Are you stuck in a specific music era/decade?

Dh and I have an on going 'thing' about his choice of music for the car.

For a long time we listened to his 600 or so downloaded songs on his phone in the car...most of it 1980s rock/pop music and some from the 90s and newer. Yes, that's the era we grew up in, but 5 years of the same 600 songs on repeat and it got old.

I usually listen to the music of 80s 90s and today on the radio. And I like to know what my kids listen to, so when they're in the car with me, they sometimes put their music on.

Last week, we got Spotify premium for the family. It has been wonderful to hear something else in the car with him. After a day in the car with variety today, he slipped back into his 80s music tonight.

It didn't bother me because we had other variety today, but how many more decades will we listen to mostly 1980s music --- lol??

Anyone else?

No.

Not stuck in any genre or decade. But that's not to say that music from my youth - and some great memories - doesn't make me smile. Today it was The Cure playing where I was shopping. :goodvibes

I'm usually stuck in the 70's/80's music on Sirius but I do get bored because you hear a lot of the same songs after awhile so I try to flip around for variety.

I listen to a large variety of music ans have quite an electic taste but It really depends on my mood. I do like my 70s and especially 80s since those are my child and teen years. I also love the 50s-60s and some even older. I love standards and am a huge musical buff from oldies to present. I through spurts. One day I will be stuck in the 80s but other days I will listen to more current songs.

Recently on spotify I have been listen to a lot of muscicals and disney songs. The latter in preperation for our upcoming trip. Lol.

While I do listen to some newer music, I’m probably mostly stuck in the 80s as far as music goes.

No. My playlist is mostly fairly current music with songs sprinkled in from the 60s and forward.

Basically anything from 1955 to about 1995.
I still play a lot of the music from those years on my guitars but I can't get into the newer stuff.
I agree with Bob Seger.
"Todays music ain't got the same soul. I like that old time Rock & Roll." :rockband:

Kinda? Most of what I have/listen to ranges from the 1960’s to about 2005. More often than not I’m listening to 70’s stuff. My Dad’s music, the soundtrack of my childhood. I’m a rock & roll girl with a heavy lean towards the blues. I have no patience for today’s music. I haven’t listened to the radio in more than a decade.

I am very stuck in the 70s and I'm quite surprised at myself. I was a huge music fan during high school and shortly after. I love lyrics and ballads so quit listening to the radio when you couldn't hear the lyrics anymore.

If I'm by myself I usually don't listen to music. Unless I'm on a long trip. When I do listen to music it is usually 40's, 50's. Preferably anything before the 90's.
When my one dd is in the car she usually has her usual set that she runs through, which is anything from Disney, oldies, country, 90's boy band... whatever. My other dd doesn't like music either so we usually just talk or sit in silence. Definitely won't listen to music when my husband is in the car. He likes to talk. I can't stand to try and talk over the radio. And he'll have the radio up loudish and try and continue a conversation over that. I learned along time ago to just turn it off. Plus we don't like the same kind of music.

Queen of the 80s here! I even have my 2-year-old asking "I want to listen to 80s." I constantly put on "I Want My 80s" on MTV Classic.

Now, I do like the 60s and 70s, and classical, too. The text notification on my cell phone is a David Bowie song, and when it goes off, DS comes running to me, "Mommy! David Bowie calling you!" (and he can correctly identify MANY Bowie songs, plus he also knows every Bowie incarnation when he sees photos. I'm VERY proud :goodvibes ;) )

For me it’s certain artists not really genres or decades.

I like Daughtry, Maroon 5, Matchbook 20. And I also listen to Carrie Underwood, Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan and Tim McGraw. And have been known to listen to Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. Some days I am on a Elvis kick and listen to him. Like some Eminem, Beyoncé, and Justin Timberlake. Some days it’s all Christian Rock.

My student workers laugh when they come into my office. They say they never know what I will have on Pandora.

Well, my favorites are from 60s and 70s, but I listen to a lot of different things in the car on Sirius radio.

When the family is in the car it's pretty eclectic as we all like different types and genres of music.

I forgot to add that it’s driver’s choice for us. If DH is driving we listen to his music (Progressive Metal), if I’m driving we listen to mine. I try to play more “our era” type stuff and he tries to play more toned down stuff that’s less likely to make me want to claw my eyeballs out. :rotfl2:

This. Do like SOME modern music, but not much.

Our gym plays some modern hits station on SiriusXM and I want to poke my ear drums out. First, they play the same songs every 20 minutes in rotation, and most of it is utterly horrible. Definitely not my thing...I'm not even sure I'd call some of it "music"....LOL

I'm a big time station flipper in the car. There is modern music I like, stuff that's played on "The Blend" or "The Pulse" on SiriusXM...but even then it's only a small bit of it. Otherwise, I'm listening to 80's, 90's or more often sports talk radio.

I flip, too. I'm just as likely to tune into MLB or News stations as I am music channels.
