Are you stuck in a specific music era/decade?

I am a big flipper as well. I listen to a few local music stations and one sports talk but I also like on XM the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s plus The Blend, Love, and some of the sports for MLB and NFL.

Our gym plays some modern hits station on SiriusXM and I want to poke my ear drums out. First, they play the same songs every 20 minutes in rotation, and most of it is utterly horrible. Definitely not my thing...I'm not even sure I'd call some of it "music"....LOL

I'm a big time station flipper in the car. There is modern music I like, stuff that's played on "The Blend" or "The Pulse" on SiriusXM...but even then it's only a small bit of it. Otherwise, I'm listening to 80's, 90's or more often sports talk radio.

Went to a Chinese buffet for lunch on Wednesday and they were playing current music. But, after the first 2 songs, it started over on song 1 again LOL

Nope, not stuck. I like to listen to music in all decades from the 40’s up to current. I choose something different to listen to almost every day. I enjoy all kinds of music, except rap crap. But rap really isn’t “music” anyway.

I have a huge music libray with a lot of different genres, but very few from the past 20 years. I can not stand any rap music, country isn't my thing and pop of today is meh. I have about 20 different playlists that I can choose from so I might be in a rut but it's my rut. I also listen to a number of podcasts as well as talk radio.

“I’ve always felt lucky that the best music in human history came out when I was in my teens and twenties” - me and everybody else born in the past century.

I do listen to a lot of late-90s to late-00s music: from Ben Folds Five to The Shins to The Killers to Fleet Foxes. I occasionally get into a new artist (s/o to Dawes!) but honestly, since Rock Is Dead and I like rock, I’m generally stuck in the past

Not true at all.

Queen of the 80s here! I even have my 2-year-old asking "I want to listen to 80s." I constantly put on "I Want My 80s" on MTV Classic.

Now, I do like the 60s and 70s, and classical, too. The text notification on my cell phone is a David Bowie song, and when it goes off, DS comes running to me, "Mommy! David Bowie calling you!" (and he can correctly identify MANY Bowie songs, plus he also knows every Bowie incarnation when he sees photos. I'm VERY proud :goodvibes ;) )

LOL...I was watching MTV 80's LAST NIGHT.

Generally I listen to Classic Rock however I am open to all genres, including international stuff AND rap. I like most media. Country is the genre that I rarely dip my toes into, but i have been attempting to listen lately.

Definitely 90's with a smattering of others.
This exactly! I was a teenager in the late 90's and I still get inexplicably happy when a Nirvana song comes on the radio. Also, country music was at it's best in the late 80's-early 90's.

So who here will admit to turning on Yacht Rock radio on SiriusXM during the summer?

I do, not for my entire 90 minute commute home, but it'll be part of the flipping I do.

I listen to everything. I have about 100 albums on the hard drive in my van, everything from David Bowie to Panic at the Disco, Kenny Chesney to Eminem, The Beatles to Ed Sheeran, and a handful of musical soundtracks (Hamilton!) mixed in for good measure. My husband, on the other hand, is mostly stuck in the 80s and drives me crazy when he's choosing the tunes because it is just such a narrow range and he tends to avoid anything new or different.

High five sister! Right with you!

Rocks not dead.
It's just letting the other "stuff" have the stage for a bit while it rests up for it's grand resurgence by a younger generation.
My Grandkids like the driving beat and recurring chord patterns that define classic Rock.
So far one plays guitar, one plays drums, and one (The Princess) is a budding singer/songwriter.

Not really stuck, there are many eras and genres I like.
I do find that I'm not really a fan of the current era of music, and that goes for all genres.

I listen from the 60s on through the mid-2000s. I flip around like crazy. I am getting a little worried though in that I am not enjoying "today's" music over the last few years. I fear I am officially old now. Or the music is really that bad.

Not stuck, but my genre of choice is rock/pop. Oldest stuff would be from the 50s, most recent would be 2018. Not that it's evenly spread out, but I'm pretty sure I don't qualify as stuck.:)

SiriusXM 50's and 60's. Love Doo Wop.

Pretty much Sirius XM 60's on 6 here, except when Cousin Brucey is on. I have a subscription to listen to MUSIC, not some old dude talking about music. But 50's and 70's are good alternates. Sometimes 80's. There was no music in the 90's according to my 27 and 31 year old who grew up in that era. Every time my 31 year old borrows my car, I find the radio on the 40's music channel!

Amazingly we’re not stuck in our era. We grew up with the Beatles and Stones, but my DH (who is 71) loves music and has found some very talented young musicians on YouTube that we both enjoy. One is Aurora and she is different, but we love lots of others too and he has purchased their music. I suppose we lean towards blues. Our choices are very eclectic. No rap or jazz however.

If you get away from the Top 40/mainstream of popular music you'll find a lot of younger artists with music heavily influenced by the bands/artists of the 60s.:)
