I am. Lots of them in fact.

I find this rather strange because the TV station I work for has a policy that we do not show commercials or infomercials with dead hosts.

I saw one a few nights ago. I couldn't sleep at all so I was watching tv and one of his commercials come on.

Yep, they're on all the time around here.

I've noticed ads from YEARS ago popping up. Sadly, I think the companies that long since retired those ads figure people will spot him and stop to watch and they'll make money.

Some of those products are really, really old!

Even creepier, over the last few days we saw several of his infomercials where they cut out the shots with his face and voiced over the ads with a woman's voice. You can still see Billy's arms as they left in the shots where he wipes down the shower or holds the product to the camera. It was weird.

i love billy mays and it makes me happy to still see his commercials (and his tv shows) on television.

why does your television station not show those commercials? do you also not show television shows with dead actors?:confused3

dont you still watch movies with John Wayne and Clark Gable. EDIT....opps didnt see this was allready suggested or i would not have posted.

I agree. I don't see them as often as I used to, but I like catching them when I do.

I'm seeing a new 1 actually, some magic jack or other other. sound from the cellphone comes in on the car speakers. Personally, I don't see why commercials with him in them should stop running until the inventors find a new person to market their items. That takes longer than the few weeks he's been gone. Why should they lose money?

Our position is that it is in poor taste to have dead people endorsing products.

So does that mean if your tv station were affiliated with CBS, Walter Cronkite would no longer be introducing the Nightly News with Katie Couric?

There is also a commercial with an Austrailian actor doing the Hoover Floormate who died several years ago and they are still showing his commercial. I keep thinking it's time to film a new commercial.

I remember when Robert Urich died, whatever he was endorsing was still airring for a while. It was done with his and his wife's blessing because they so believed in what he had endorsed. i think it was a service and not a product. But, it just seemed odd. I think people thought more about Robert being deceased. They finally stopped airring that commercial.

Doesn't bother me a bit. I love seeing Billy Mays. He was a great pitchman. Dead people regularly hock items. I remember Mustang using old footage of Steve McQueen a few years back in a commercial. No one thought that was weird. :confused3

Still seeing his commercials on air. If I recall, I heard a blurb on the radio a couple of weeks ago regarding his commercials. His wife made the decision to keep the commercials on air. She said he would not have wanted the commercials to stop airing.

That was the beginning of our policy. He was doing an infomercial for a sonic toothbrush in our TV market. He died on a day when we were supposed to air it. It never aired again.
