This new fault thats rumbling has had 14 small earthquakes this morning since 4 am thats quite a few. 2 were feelable. One made me pracitcally jump out of bed. Which made me think... since I am pretty freaking close to this fault that if anything happened I dont' have any supplies!!! No water.... some soup but no flashlights, batteries, extra blankets... I need to go get prepared!!

Are you ready for a natural disaster?

Sort of. I have my camping gear in the cellar. The lantern came in handy when we lost power once. I do have a stock of food stuff in case we get snowed in but that is so I can bake and cook, it wouldn't come in very handy in a disaster situation. Hmmmm, something to think about.

Preparing for a disaster is an important thing!

Even you think "It can't happen here"

Here is a link about getting your family ready for a disaster: Disaster Preparedness

Hope that helps

Debbie

I guess about half way. I try to start buying some extra canned goods at this time of year in case we get snowed in with electricity. We have a wood heater that we use only sometimes. But with no power it can keep one warm and be used to warm up soup, etc. We also can boil eggs on top of it and wrap up potatos to cook in the fire. Sounds like you are having a lot of small rumbles your way.
Take care!

ummm - I'm not even ready for Thanksgiving, much less a natural disaster.

:)

I have a first aid kit - somewhere. :lol :lol :lol :lol

I live in Ohio -- there's not a lot of natural disasters here to prepare for. :)

During the winter we sometimes get snowed in or lose power. So I'm semi-prepared. We have a woodburning stove that can be backup heat, and I always have tons of candles around. I probably should stock up on more food though. Of course, that's the best time to clean out all the food that never gets eaten. Desperate times call for desperate food...;)

I have 5 flash lights and no batteries, and a half eatten jar of peanutbutter, im prepared

Jason.... I won't be coming to your house for shelter in an emergency... LMAO

Preshi, my sweet sister used to be an executive for Bank of America and worked at the World Headquarters downtown in San Francisco. She was the "earthquake coordinator" for the 52nd floor!!!!!!!. They had enough food supplies and water up there to last 20 DAYS!!!!!:D :D

I'm a firm believer in always having batteries on hand.......ALWAYS!

I always keep a can of Spam on hand, just in case!

TC, I'd probably accept dying of starvation rather than eat SPAM:jester: :jester: :jester: :jester: ........

I keep the Spam because I think it can live through anything, even nuclear war. I know, I am weird.

When I was a kid, and we were poor, we ate fried Spam sandwiches, a lot. I don't eat it any more, but I really do have a can on hand, just in case!

I am one of those that feels better being as prepared as possible. If for any reason (natural or otherwise) we cannot leave our house for a month we could easily survive with what I have on hand.

PLUS it saves lots of money keeping stocked up. I normally only shop for staples like milk, eggs etc on a regular basis. Other things I only buy on sale and just replenish my stock.
:D

After all the hype on Y2K, I think I have couple of cans of soup and a flash light I have never used.

We live about 20 miles out in the country, and over the years, have been hit by some REALLY BAD storms and power outages.

As we are currently putting an addition on our house, we have decided to purchase a generator, to be wired to our furnace/AC, selected bathrooms and lights, and our refrigerator.

Hopefully, we'll not have to use it all that much, but I think it can be a real lifesaver in a true emergency.
