Are you loyal to one car brand?

Some friends and I were reminiscing about past cars we have owned and it got me wondering how many people are loyal to a single brand?

One of my friends had only ever owned Chevrolet cars and another had only ever owned Honda.

I have bought 10 cars since being out on my own as an adult.

3 Honda (Accord, Odyssey, Accord)
3 Ford (F150, Expedition, Mustang)
1 KIA (Sorento)
1 Hyundai (Sonata)
1 Chevy (Bolt)
1 Lexus (RX 300)

In each case I bought the car that most met my needs at the price point I wanted to pay without too much thought as to the brand.

I've bought one Honda and two Nissans. I pretty much ran em or will run em until they puke. I still have the Honda. It's a 99, has over 700k miles on it now and will go until someone crashes into it or it pukes. The 96 Nissan had 525k miles on it when it was crashed into and not worth the repairs. The 14 Nissan is still going and is our long trip car. When it's time to buy another I will look to Honda first, then Toyota, then Nissan.

No.

Including the two cars we've bought for our kids, the cars we've owned have been:

Saturn (SL)
Pontiac (Bonneville)
Subaru (Legacy)
Chevrolet (Blazer)
2 Hondas (Accord, Odyssey)
Acura (MDX)
Nissan (Pathfinder) - my current car
3 BMWs (2 3 Series, 1 X1) - the X1 is my wife's current car
Toyota (Corolla) - older son's current car
Mazda (Speed3) - younger son's current car

I think I got them all - I might have missed one in there.

Not one brand. I've had:

1. Nissan Sentra
2. Honda Accord
3. Toyota Camry (3)
4. Subaru Outback (2)
5. Toyota Highlander
6. Hyundai Elantra

When it comes to "my car", I'm a VW person. I'm on my 3rd Passat. DH has a Golf. Not sure what my next VW will be, hopefully I have a long time to figure that out.

Before I had any choice in the matter, I'd take what I could get - Pontiac Grand AM, Buick Century, Ford Taurus.

I think you have probably put more miles on those two cars than I put on my ten.

Not particularly. Now that we've had 2 Hondas in a row, I will probably stick with that for my vehicle. I have previously owned a Mazda, a Jeep and 2 Toyotas.

I've only owned one car in my life and it's a Honda. I'm not loyal to Honda, it just was what I liked when I finally decided to buy a car. I'm pretty sure it will last the rest of my life and I doubt I'll need to worry about purchasing anything else.

Used to have a Nissan, currently driving a Toyota. I'm not against Honda, I'd go for one. My Toyota has had no hassles, though I got it brand new.

The Nissan I had was used, and was pushing 15 years old but had low mileage. However, in the span of two years, I had to change multiple parts: horn, crank shaft sensor, radiator, gas springs on the rear hatch, gas tank, probably more. That said, I wouldn't say no to Nissan, but I wouldn't keep one for so long either.

If it makes you feel better we are just barely over 200k on the 14. :) Between the 3 cars, I'd say about 100k of the total miles were not put on by us. They were all bought used.

I've only had two cars - first was a honda gifted to me and then I bought a toyota. My dad has mostly stuck with Toyotas though.

Over the years I have owned:
Chevy Impala ('66)
VW bug ("66)
Chevy Nova (72)
a Datsun (not sure)
Pontiac Grand Prix (not sure)
A ford van (95)
Chevy Impala (04)
and now my 2012 Ford Infusion sooooo.......nope on loyalty

I had a
Ford
Oldsmobole
Toyota (5)
Mazda
Nissan
Honda

I have had more Toyotas than any other brand now that I think about it.

9 Hondas (Odyssey right now, Accords, Civics, Insight, another Odyssey)
3 Chevys (pick up, Tahoe, Trailblazer)

Only Hondas for us - gave up on Chevy after we bought the first Trailblazer years ago and it was awful .

Eta0: oops forgot a CRV and HRV so at least 11

My father was always a Chrysler (Plymouth/Dodge) man and I pretty much followed in his footsteps.

But I bought a Hyundai in 2014. My father died in 2015. Yes, I must have killed him.

No loyalty here...although I don't see myself going back to an ICE car after going full electric.

Starting from when I started driving in 1986:
72 VW Super Beetle
78 Toyota Celica
86 Honda CRX
96 Geo Prizm
04 Toyota Matrix
16 Audi A3 Convertible
19 Tesla M3

I've only ever bought Nissan Cubes (a 2013 that was totaled in an accident that I replaced with a 2014).

Wow and I thought my wife's 02 ford F150 with 300k was something.

Always drove Chevys until I bought my first Subaru in 2005. Drove it for 13 years and gave it to our son. He drove it for 3 years and sold it to a friend of his and he is still driving it. It still looks great. Bought another in 2018 and traded it in for a 2022 because they offered me so much for it I couldn’t say no. I’m sold on Subaru.
