Are you having a harder time getting ADRs this year?

I was holding a reservation that I intended to cancel this year but never made any ADRs at the 180 day mark. Circumstances have changed and it looks like we're now going. I got everything I wanted, at the times I wanted in August (including Cali Grill fireworks time) four months out. I have never had an easier time even when I booked at 180 days out!

No issues for us. We went in February and are going again in May and July and haven't had any problems.

I got everything for our July 4th trip and some meals were for 8 people...I have reservations at Cali Grill (Brunch at the Top), Narcoossees, Yachtsman, BOG (dinner), The Plaza, Olivia's, Boma (breakfast), Garden Grill (breakfast) and Teppen Edo.

I was just remembering that last year, it seemed that there was a lot more availability even a few weeks after 180 days. Like sci-fi restaurant for example. You can still get a reservation for dinner, but 5-7 is pretty much taken. Just wonderin.

Sci-fi can sometimes be harder to get than some people think. Last year I wanted to change the time for some of my November ADR's a week after I made them at 180 days. I could not find any available times for any days for Sci-fi for our 9 day stay. I checked right up until we left and could never find another opening at Sci-fi. I think HS doesn't have very many good places to eat so finding any opening for ADR's there can be tricky after 180 days.

ADRs for 4 or less may be easy, but I'm finding a hard time getting ADRs for 5, at reasonable times, the first week in August.

Sci-Fi is one that's giving me trouble. At my 180, I was able to get a 2:45 for lunch. I was able to move it to 2:15 but we don't want to stay in the park that long and who knows when we'd be seated after they run late most of the day. I've been trying to move it earlier every day since. I have the TP finder and look myself. No luck. It's one I'll cancel the night before because it doesn't work for us, as is.
Having a party of 5 doesn't help, either.

I'm going in May and I can't for the life of me find a BOG dinner. I always go during free dining and I've never had this much trouble. I thought it would be easier with not going during FD but apparently not lol

I was able to get everything I wanted, but not all at the "perfect" times. A few ADRs are 15 minutes to a half hour off of my preferred time. I will keep trying to adjust them, but it's not a big deal if I can't.

We just booked a trip in May last month, and we got all of the ADRs we were looking for, including 'Ohana and the new Bon Voyage breakfast. We did not try to Be Our Guest though since we just did dinner there in December and wanted to try some new places (it was definitely worth going once though).

Today was my 180 and I got everything I wanted for the beginning of October. It was actually one of the easiest ADR days I've ever done.

Agreed- this happened lat year too. No Bog for the longest time then bam! Tons of openings! They hung out for the taking for a few days, so just keep checking!

I am going over Easter Week (leaving tomorrow, yay!) for DD's high school softball Spring Training. I had to wait until game schedules came out to make my ADRs. I started making them on March 1st (about 45 days out) for DH and me. I eventually got everything I wanted at close to the times I wanted including an 11:50 BOG lunch and an 8:10 PPO Tucker House ROL breakfast. BOG took about 2 weeks of using the TP reservation finder and looking on my own. For Tucker House ROL, I booked a 10:40 right away and a week later found the 8:10. A 6:30 The Boathouse dinner was impossible until another Diser told me to book it through Open Table, which had tons of availability. The hardest one to get was Sci-Fi at 7:25. I finally got that one only a week ago.

To all the PP that said Sci-Fi was the hardest to get, I agree!!!

I've been watching for the ROL dining packages for the week after Labor Day (ideally Wed Sept 6). Every time it's said no times available. Did I miss them?

I just lucked into a dinner ADR at BOG. Only problem is, it's at 8:05 and we'll miss the fireworks I'm going to keep looking and hope an earlier time opens up. Even though I signed up for Touring Plans Reservation Finder, they didn't send me a notification about this ADR. I just lucked into it by checking at the right time. Makes me wonder how many I might have missed because they didn't send a notification. I know others have had success with it so not sure why it didn't work for me.

Agreed. I think my perception that adr's were harder this year was because I randomly checked out SciFi availability- they must be very in demand!
