Are you getting the new Disney credit card?

Notice that it has to be packages inclusive of tickets. That leaves all AP holders out, who are loyal WDW visitors. How stupid.

I strongly disagree Mark. Spend $10,000 at the Disney Store under the old Disney Club and you got the equivalent of $1000 cash back. Under this card you get $100. Your discount on park passes with this card amounts to 1%--much crummier than either MKC or DC.

dh and i were going to do this, but i don't think it's worth it now. we'll stick with our ff miles card.

I think I'm gonna get one. I don't have any perks cards now, so at least I'll be able to earn something with this card. :)

Doctor P, I think Mark was being sarcastic with his comment and totally agrees with you. :)

I won't be getting one, I use my Delta AmEx for miles pretty much exclusively and we have a MasterCard for places that don't take AmEx. I pay them off every month and don't need another credit card.

Hmm Right now we have no annual fee and 9.9% with Capital One. If they upped the rewards on Disney purchases I might consider it.

Nope - they are going to have to offer a much better deal to get my attention.

I already have my only real CC with them so I might see if I can switch because as of right now my card has no perks and pathetic perks are better than no perks in my eyes.

It's available now?

They were supposed to email me when it was so I could be one of the first to sign up.

They were supposed to email me also & they didn't!! grrrr

I did get a notice yesterday with my son's Disney Stock info about the card though.

I'm going to sign up for it just because I think it's cool. LOL How intelligent is that? (rhetorical question!! Please DON'T answer it! LOL)

I, also, signed up to get an email for the "Day 1" availability, and haven't received it yet.

I heard a rumor that there would be a "day 1" card that specified "DVC Members" too? Anyone else hear this?

Spend $10,000 at the Disney Store under the old Disney Club and you got the equivalent of $1000 cash back. Under this card you get $100.

On the other hand, I will never spend $10,000 in Disney Store, even for the next decade. But I probably will spend $10,000 for everything else, eventually.

Since this is going to replace DC, I thought I might as well get it free of charge.

WOW, did you see the interest rate on that bad boy? And convenience checks don't count either. Who are they kidding that this is a good deal.

11.7 percent is a bad rate?

21 percent is a BAD rate!

We have one that's 7.99 and one that's 9.99.

If you pay it off monthly it won't matter what the rate is. :)

I agree that it's not as "rewarding" as other cards but I'm getting one as a souvenir.

11.7 percent is a bad rate?

Yes, with interest rates being what they are right now, 11.7 is awful, and that's the best you can get. It could be higher depending on different factors. There's no reason for anyone with a half decent credit record to pay that kind of interest rate.
There's a lot of people who do carry a balance on the credit cards. I saw a report on tv not long ago and statistics showed that a majority of credit card holders carry balances on their accounts.

I don't carry balances on my credit cards, but I still insist on getting one with a decent rate. You just never know when something might come up and I'd want to defer paying the entire balance. I'm not getting stuck with a interest rate like that. Especially when the advantages to having it are minimal at best.

Also, even if you don't carry balances, just having a credit card affects your available credit and your credit worthiness. I have two cards now. One I use for daily purchases that I pay off every month, the other is for emergency use only. Both have interests rates of under 10%. I'm not willing to give either up for this one. I wish they had done something better, this doesn't come close to the Disney Club benefits.

I was eagerly awaiting the details on this card, and I'm very disappointed. The 1% bonus has some pretty vague fine print that they say they'll clear up AFTER you get the card. No thanks, tell me up front before I get the card.

I was extremely disappointed with everything about this card. I'll keep my Delta Amex and my MilesOne MC. I was looking forward to this and considering replacing my MilesOne card with this one, but not now. As a DVC member, the vacation package thing does nothing for me (although I can get DVC member on my card - big deal).

Transaction fee for balance transfers

3% of the amount of each balance transfer, but not less than $5.00 nor more than $50.00.

If I'm paying interest already on a balance, why would I pay a fee to transfer it somewhere else?? Certainly the Disney rate is not lower than what I already have.

NOW, if the transfer fee AND interest were waived for 6 months, that might be a good reason to transfer but, I think I'll just open the account, make one purchase, pay it, get a pin and, cancel the darn thing.

QUESTION: What do we do with our old Disney CC's?? Do we have to call to cancel them and, remove them from our history?? (By remove, I mean, close the account/show closed, etc.)

What a confusing year with Disney~

I applied over the phone yesterday and when I gave him the code (7DXJ - I think it was) from the official site I was told that it was invalid. He manually looked up a code for me - did anyone else have this problem?

One individual and one joint credit card is enough for me. I get better incentives with my credit card now and it's more practical for me. I never got excited by the Disney card because it seems like Disney changes their programs and incentives every five years or so. JMHO.
