Are you frustrated about full resorts!

Kinda for us to compensate the big crowds if they appear...
We are staying a few extra nights outside the FTP

Granted last year we stayed for 10 nights as we are the same this year..But we were only goin to stay for the 7 but i tacked on the extra days for crowd delays....This way I have a good feeling that we will be able to COMFORTABLY see and do everything this year with the amount of time we are staying.

We really dont mind the crowds...Seeing that half the people there dont know about fast pass...how could they miss that...
Fast pass will be the way for as many rides as we can this October. The biggeest thing i am worried about is that I hope
its not as hot as it was last Octber. We were in the mid 90s every day where the avg high is comfy 80 or something.....

Boston Yachter,

Just remember the time frame you are going will be no where near as bad as the summer months. Most schools will be in their first or second week of school by August 23rd and parents just don't like to take their kids out of school that early in the year! So no matter how crowded it is, it won't be as bad as Christmas or Mid-July.

I think YC is a very nice resort and well laid out so you won't feel like it's too crowded. I know we felt like cattle at AS and I have never experienced that at a Deluxe.

You'll be fine! Have fun!!!

First I think we have to remember that the FTP is sold out not all the rooms in the resorts. If you think about it this way a CM told me that they reserved about 30% of the rooms for the FTP ( maybe a higher percentage in the values and moderates. As I saw on another post it is mathmatically impossible to be totally booked everynight for the FTP because of the day rotations of vacations. When they say no avail it might not be avail for one or two days that you requested. Most extra vacationers will be staying on disney. If you are staying offsite there would be no special reason to come down during the FTP timeframe unless you's planned it in advance. I believe the crowds will increase but I think they will be tolerable. Another thing is if you going in Oct or Nov parks will be closing early but you'll also have some great cooler weather making park touring pleasant. Lastly, and this is the most important. Like some of the other posters said Be kind if everyone has a positive attitude it's better for everyone. No attitudes like I paided for this trip and the heck with the next guy I'm getting my moneies worth before he does. Be kind with the stollers, I'm still healing from our trip in April (haha I know you need them just remember to yeild to us pedestrian and don't use they a blocking devises). Have a great trip because in my world any disney trip is a great trip.

Good Luck and happy touring to all.

I have been there when it is crowded and hot and you just have to make the best of it. The crowds do not bother me. I am just happy to be in DisneyWorld. "The Happiest Place On Earth":bounce: :Pinkbounc

" What will be will be."

I don't like crowds that much either and the last two years we have been spoiled by low attendance. I do love the discounts though.....so you take the good with the bad. You are in Disney!!!!!!! Where else could you want to be???????? You gotta love it!!!!!!

We were just there and AKL was 100% booked during our stay. We never had more than a 2 person wait at the food court. Our check in was FAST! We did have ps for Boma for dinner or there would have been a wait and we had ps for all of our dinners. We would not have had to have them for breakfast though. We had a wonderful time and it was crowded, but I had more Disney fans to chat with while waiting. The bus service was excellent and I only had to stand once after FITS on the way home and that was by choice. One boy was far too tired to stand all the way home. We were always at the park by 7:30 for early opening and for early breakfast ps. We didn't have any troubles. Even Disney Quest during the rain was okay. Even sitting for an hour in the rain waiting for Fantasmic! will be a great memory. The one night we were waiting after FITS for the next AKL bus there were 7 busses that pulled up for All Stars because of the crowds at that resort. The people at the Orlando airport were even nice :D

Nope. I'm not frustrated. This comes with normal summer crowds. As others have said we have been spoiled the past two years with lighter crowds. I recall having to make reservations a year or more in advance for the summer season back in the late 80s/early 90s.

I was at the AKL in May and the hotel was packed then. I'm prepared for a busy stay at Coronado Springs this summer. I'm just happy to be there :)

There was a time when Typhoon Lagoon and River Country were the only water parks on site. Typhoon Lagoon was always closing during peak hours. We were always told to go right at opening or wait until after 3pm when the park started emptying out. That's the norm for summer.

I am glad you have a good attitude overall. When it is hot and humid, we try to schedule our days at the parks around air-conditioning--really. We are from So. Cal and rarely get heat mixed with unbearable humidity so our threshold is low. At MK think about Country Bear, PoTC, Carousel of Progress, Hall of Presidents, Haunted Mansion, Small World during the height of the afternoon. Save any rides with huge outdoor lines for the early day or late afternoon evening. Every park has air-conditioned options except for AK--you're out of luck there.

You hit it right on the nose the last week of August won't be as bad as the summer so even with FTP I don't think it will be nearly as bad as the height of summer. If you've noticed from the official WDW site the hours for the last week of August change...so that is a sign from disney that crowds historically decrease when you'll be there.

Hope you have fun regardless.

FTP is not the only reason the crowds are big. Disney has had a strong Florida Advertising enticing us to stay on site. As they say, to good to pass up.
We are staying July and know the crowds will be hugh, but it just means makin sure we have a good gameplan. The biggest mistake newbies make is they did not take time to study the park map so they knew where what ride or show is.
We hear it every time we go to any of the parks, I think it's this way or no its over here.
As locals we never go on weekends unless Northern friends came down. MGM is best on Mondays and MK is best on Wednesdays.
We took advantage of staying onsite rhis year, but we booked it on M-T-W-TH.
Hope this helps some of you. Like I say a bad day at Disney is better then a god day at work

After reading several other threads, it's been finally stated that Disney resorts are at +90% occupency and the All Stars are at full!

When did Disney release occupancy levels of the resorts?

steve

Carousel of Progress

That was mentioned as a place to go to relax out of the heat. Is that opened now??? I thought it was still closed?

We are at 99.9% Resort Occupancy. (And yet my hours are being cut because attendance is down. Riiight.)

I would take info from "insiders" with a grain of salt. As far as I know Disney has never released info on room occupancy or park attendance. Those who are in the know do not speak.

steve

That still is not official information. I would believe though that attendance is up. I am sure at this stage Disney is wondering if it up because of the economy or no war or the discounts they are offerning.

Caro. of Progress is open till the end of Aug.

I wouldn't mind larger crowds in Nov if some of these now "seasonal" rides will be open, along with some E-ride nights.

If I had a nickel for every rumor I've heard from a CM over the years my next vacation would be paid for. I'm sure Tyler is an honest, hard working man, this may just be an off-the-cuff remark he made or heard from somebody else.

Folks working at a particular resort may have a pretty good idea what their occupancy rate is where they work. But those higher up who KNOW the occupancy rates for all 23 or 25 resorts aren't saying. My guess is their job depends on it. Do you really believe the occupancy rate was 99.9%?

I would say that Steve is the man in the know, as he is right, you will never get an "official" numbers remark from any Disney upper management, it's just something they do not do. They never release attendance, they don't release exactly how many tickets are sold for E-nights, and they don't release occupany rates and no resort is ever 99.9% as some rooms are always down for repairs.
