Are you familiar with Juliette Girl Scouts?

There is a 1st grade brownie troop in our neighborhood, but, for the time-being, I'm exploring Juliette girl scouts with a couple of other moms.
I know that it's independent and flexible (you're only involved with what you have time for, etc). I'm wondering what others have done. Did you get together with a couple of other Juliette girls to work on badges and such?, attend any programs? What percentage of time did you work with your daughter/juliette girl independently?
If you are familiar with Juliettes, do you mind sharing your experience with it?
Thanks in advance!:D

I am a Girl Scout leader and have never heard of them. Juliette Low was the founder of Girl Scouts, but don't know if there is an organization called Juliette Scouts???

From what I found in a google search:

JULIETTES: GIRL SCOUTING FOR EVERY GIRL, EVERYWHERE
Juliettes are independent Girl Scouts who participate actively and equally in all Girl Scout Programs, but do not belong to a formal Troop.

The Juliettes are...

* Girl Scouts, who are not in Girl Scout Troops
* Girls who learn lots of new things and have fun
* Girls who earn Girl Scout Badges or Try-Its
* Girls who go on field trips
* Girls who go to day and resident camp
* Girls who make new friends, as they learn about Girl Scouting
* Girls who perform community service

Our Juliette Girl Scout program is designed to meet the demands of the busy lifestyles of today’s girls. It is just right for girls and teens who want to be Girl Scouts, but may not have an active Troop in their area or for whom there is no available adult leadership.

* Juliettes participate in organized, supervised Girl Scout activities.
* Juliettes are invited to attend activities and events, when accompanied by a responsible adult.
* Juliettes may attend events sponsored by their neighborhood Girl Scout Service Unit when accompanied by a responsible adult.
* Juliettes are eligible to attend Girl Scout day camp and Girl Scout resident camp at the reduced Girl Scout rate.

I'm a Cadette, Junior, and Brownie leader.

Just to add... Juliettes wear a Juliette emblem patch instead of a troop number.

Yes, they can sell cookies. From the GS website:

Can Juliettes, or individually registered girls, fundraise as Girl Scouts?

Girls are not allowed to earn money for themselves, whether they are in a group or participating as individually registered members. However, any registered Girl Scout above Daisy Girl Scout level, including those girls participating in STUDIO 2BSM, can take part in product sales and other council-approved activities.

Some councils help individual girls participate in the cookie program as a "group" with a responsible adult overseeing each girl's participation. Girls might sign up to work at a cookie booth or team up with another girl who is selling cookies. Individuals can earn "cookie credits" toward camp fees or events, if the council has such programs.

The money they earn must go into a specific "Juliette" fund administered by the council or service unit. The fund might provide mini-grants for individual travel or other program activities that benefit Juliettes. A representative group decides how the funds are spent, not the individual girl. Not all councils are set up to administer such funds, so check with your local council for guidelines.

You really should check with your Council and/or Service Unit to see how they run things and to see what's out there for you.

Thanks for the replies. I know Juliettes stress "independent" and it works out great for busy schedules as you pick & choose how much you want to do.
I've already registered my daughter--Juliette Brownie girl scout:D. What a couple of the moms and I want to do is get together and work on badges and such. In time, (with changes;) ) we plan to join the existing Brownie troop. So, for now, we would be acting "independently" as a little group.

Personally I would not do this with Brownies. Most Juliettes are Cadettes and Seniors who want to stay in as thier troops get VERY small! LOL!

For Brownies one of our troop goals is to foster independence which is hard to do if your daughter is a Juliette. Plus if you join the troop later, they may be doing badges your daughter has already done and they will have formed relationships and friendships your daughter missed out on. Most council programs in our area for Brownies fill up with troops which would leave little to no room for the individual girls

I think the Juliettes are a great idea for older girls.

I've never heard of Juliettes. My DD8 is gone to a Camporee until 10:00 tonight.

I've personally only known Juliettes whereas the mom has a dd who doesn't have time for the meetings and time to do all the activities with a troop or sisters whose mom finds it easier to function as Juliettes. There's a girl with severe special needs and she's a Juliette yet she meets infrequently with a Brownie troop. I have not heard about a group of girls and their moms who started a Juliette troop, though. Juliettes has been more so a one girl or a few girls from the same family, not a large group.

I agree with CarolA about earning badges and forming relationships and friendships, though, Juliettes can work with a troop, too.

I would think it best to form your own Brownie troop and build from there. Then again there are requirements (training, paperwork, certifications, Safety Wise, etc.) and the time commitment so I understand.

I hope it works out for you all... :D

I believe the financial differs by council but most if not all have the Juliette option. I have a Brownie & a Cadette, both are involved in extracurricular activities so this option was the best fit for us. We do everything minus attend troop meetings. We still have a troop number for financials & wear it on our uniform as it's the most inclusive representation. In our council they're called individually registered girl scouts, we don't use the term Juliettes.

Am aware, that was more for the next person searching for answers in regards to individually registered girl scouts.

seems very odd...another Zombie thread, by a brand new poster, who chose a 12 year old post to make their first post on here?

Actually, I can imagine they were Googling info and this thread popped up. So they registered to answer the question.

And now answering that means this will pop to the top again. Sorry, everybody!
