....when you are "done" with your Christmas shopping? I am done with mine and I keep thinking or seeing things that I would love to buy. Someone stop me!!!! LOL!!!!:lmao:

I said I was "done" about a month ago... I've been out shopping a few times a week since then. :rolleyes1

Instead of a pile of presents, we now officially have a mountain. :santa:

Count me in too. So done with ds, but dh keeps finding little things.

Ummm yes!! I even have a set limit with DH but keep on thinking "oh but the cats didn't buy him anything yet!" ;)

yep same here, but i did good at the mall yesterday saw things and wuould say nope im done but it took a whiles before i did that...lol

When the kids were younger...YES! But now that they're older resisting the temptation is so much easier since everything they like is expensive ;) I was also able to keep myself from going overboard on stockings for once. Usually I go all out and get all these cool little 'things' but lasts years 'things' are still sitting in a shoebox unused  So this year I went cheap and am filling the stockings with candy lol They won't know what to think but will be happy im sure!

Yep! I start so early, and then want to keep buying! Fortunately, I've managed to MOST fight those urges this year! I do have two gift cards left to purchase, so that should satisfy me! (I do have to be careful-- the mall I'm going to to purchase the GC's has DBF's favorite store in it. MUST STAY AWAY!)

Me too, but it is because I'm finding such good deals! We're doing something a little different this year with Santa bringing a package of gifts for the whole family (board games, movies, Wii games) and I keep adding to it! I thought I was done with 3 movies, 1 Wii game and 2 board games... Then I added a couple more movies because they were only $5, then Epic Mickey because I just couldn't resist, and now I'm sitting here with $50 in "free" money from Best Buy ($30 gift card for buying Epic Mickey & Toy Story Mania, plus $20 holiday bonus from Reward Zone) looking at things I might add to the pile.

Only when comes to food. I like all the yummy food that have Christmas. I keep buying and buying. I have food for Christmas dinner. But just seen a yummy cake that I had to have. LOL

Yes I am. The fact that I LOVE to shop doesn't help either.

I have said for a while that I am 100% done with my son.

I just got him this backpack at amazon.com :

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0037CF7S8/ref=ox_ya_os_product

And while going through gifts to take to my parents house I realized that I need to get my dad one more gift. Just a small something to wrap up and put under the tree.

My son actually needs a backpack though (can you tell that I am trying to okay this purchase with myself...) as he always has a ton of things he is carrying to school, along with his binder. The backpack will be very beneficial for him, and make things eaiser for him. I have thought about getting him one for a couple of weeks now, and almost went to Ross today to take a look at them. This one is a great deal, and a good color for a teenage boy.

Nope.. Exactly why I do all of my shopping online.. I learned a long time ago that if I wanted to stay well under budget and not keep buying more and more, the best thing to do was to finish all of my shopping in a day or two - (and not go out to the stores again)..

Then along came the internet - which is even better!! ..:goodvibes
I shopped online Thanksgiving Day - and the day after - then just sat back and waited for the packages to arrive.. Came in well under the budget I set and did no "extra" spending..:santa:

It's waaaaay too easy when you're out in the stores to see things and think to yourself, "Suzy would love that - and it's only......" and before you know it you're walking out of the store with an entire cartful of "it's only.....'s"..;)

I have been REALLY good this year. WE put the money for EVERYTHING extra for Christmas in a envelope. When it is gone, that is it! It includes money for gifts, special activities, foods etc. My gift list is finished and I know there are still three special meals to buy food for sooooo....If there is any left I might buy a few more things if not, so be it.

Too funny! I can get like this, so I joined the no-buy thread in December to keep me in check. I've done pretty well. Plus, my in-law situation has been a little different this year, so I spent less in that area and more on myself and DH (we got the Wii and Wii Fit as a family gift to each other). I also love to shop, though, so I totally relate. My kids' stockings grew a lot on Black Friday, but that was technically November!

Yes.

I put myself on a serious budget this year for Christmas. I am done shopping, but now I'm feeling cheap. I'm also feeling that I wasn't as fair to my giftees as I should be.

Example: I bought my dad a $140 leather jacket from Macy's that, after sales and coupons, came to $61. I got his wife a $25 shirt, and then two $10 gifts that look like I spent a lot more. I THINK that is enough and is within my budget but I feel like she's going to feel cheated. I can't help that I found a good deal on the cashmere pashmina I bought her; I'm just good at finding deals.

I do think I need to buy my sister one more thing. I can't think of what to get her.

Every time I think that I'm done DH says he knows the perfect gift for someone and off he goes. I'm thrilled that he's willing to shop, but wondering whether or not we're always a little overboard.

Will she know you got such an excellent deal on the cashmere pashmina? :confused3 If not, I wouldn't worry. I would think that and a shirt would look equal to your dad's jacket.

For the OP: Yup, I'm B-A-D to the bone about excess Christmas shopping. With four kids and only one of them a girl I tend to find myself saying "OH! I would've loved that when I was little" (or worse - "I remember those!") and snagging something for her. Then, feeling guilty, I pick up a small Lego set or some such for each of the boys. Thankfully, all the "extra" gifts have all been $20 or under and won't take up a lot of space so I don't feel EXTRA bad ;) But, when I look at the pile around the tree it is a little  I paid cash for everything, though, so I refuse to second guess any of it. With the exception of birthdays this is the only time we do big gift giving to the kids (they do get a small something at Easter and Valentine's but those are token items, the rest of the year they have to buy it themselves.)
