I have a strange question for anyone currently staying at OKW in a 2BR room or who will be there soon (like in the next couple weeks). And it is a very specific question.

If you are in a 2BR at OKW that when you come in the front door the master bedroom is to the left I need to know how far it is to walk from the nightstand on the left side of the bed to the bathroom. :confused3

I am hooked up to a dialysis machine at night, I can add an extension tube to the regular tube and it will give me more room to walk. At home if I add the extension tube I can get up and go to the bathroom in the middle of the night without having to unhook from my machine. But since at OKW you have to walk through the hot tub room to get to the bathroom I don't know that even with the tube I will be able to reach. My machine will be sitting on the nightstand on the side of the bed closest the bathroom.

Last year we were in a room where the master bedroom was on the right as you go in - in all the years we have been going we have never had that layout and I was lost the whole time. It was like the twilight zone - things looked familiar, but they weren't where I thought they should be. :rotfl: But in that room the side of the bed I have to sleep on is on the far side of the room so I difinitely could not reach the bathroom. If I find out I couldn't reach with "left side room layout" either then I won't even bother packing the extension tubes and will free up a little space in the luggage.

Thanks so much!!

I was in one in January and if I had to guess-it was approx 15 ft. (hope that's a close guess)

I think that your best bet, if you can't find someone staying there currently, is to call the front desk / concierge at OKW directly.

If you explain your condition and why you need the information I believe that they will be able to provide it for you. If not immediately, then surely with a return phone call.

Let us know how it turns out.

I may call the resort directly, but after trying to find out about the showers at AKL by calling the resort directly I'm not holding out much hope that they would know.

We toured the model AKL room at Woodfield Mall where we saw a 3rd bathroom in a 2BR unit and a beautiful walk-in shower. AFter booking our room I found out by accident that the 3rd bathroom won't exist until the Kidani Village rooms are built. So we tried to find out about the walk-in shower. The resort was no help - the referred me to the room layouts online (which show the non-existent 3rd bathroom!) I finally posted here, found someone staying at AKL and found out there is no walk in shower - just a tub and a shower head.:guilty: So we switched our ressies over to OKW :thumbsup2

After looking at the amount of clothes I have piled up already I'm thinking about leaving the extension tubes behind anyway. I would need to pack 10 of them (one a night) and even if the left sided rooms would work I only have a 50/50 chance I would get one of those rooms anyway - it's just as likely I would be in a right sided room again and I already know that won't work. :confused3

I don't think it would work.
Here is a link to the DVC site. The first page shows a 360 view of the rooms, which would probably not be that helpful.
If it doesn't open to the page of accommodations, along the left side of the page, there is a link titled "Accommodations". The accommodations page has links to floor plans (I'm going to try to post a link to the 2 bedroom floor plan, but those kind of pages often don't work to post an image).

Anyway, looking at that plan and figuring a King size bed is approximately 82-85 inches wide, my rough figure is about 3 'king bed measures" to get from the bedside table that is closest to the bathroom into the toilet area. That works out to be about 22. Adding in a bit for mistakes, it sounds like 25 feet would be a good rough estimate.

I don't know if you have thought about other possibilities besides longer tubing, but one possibility would be a commode chair for you to use during the night. You could store it in the laundry room during the day. In the disABILITIES FAQs thread, there are some equipment rental places in post #2 that could rent one or you could call Special Reservations at WDW to see if they could come up with one for you (their phone number is also in the disABILITIES FAQs thread - can't remember which post, but the index in post one will tell you where).

Oh I don't need anything that extreme. If I am on "dwell" I can unhook from the machine if I need to. And if it is an emergency and I'm not on dwell I can hit pause and clamp my tubes off, and unhook. My doctor just prefers me not to unhook very often - more chance of germs or something to get in the tube and cause an infection. I have caps that I put on the tube when I unhook so it isn't exposed while I am unattached. It really isn't a major deal.

Looking at the layout I am thinking I will leave the tubes behind. My extensions are 12 ' I don't know how long the original tubes are, but I would say less than 10' so it doesn't look like it will work.

Thanks for the help - I didn't think to look at the layout and estimate the scale - I was just trying to picture it from past trips.
