Are you back to work yet?

With all the reopening going on, wondering if most are back to work yet or still furloughed, laid off or working from home?

I am a substitute teacher, so I am home indefinitely. Let’s just say this is may just be the longest summer break ever!

What about in your house?

My husband, a commercial electrician, has been working the whole time as an essential worker (doing work that is, IMO, non-essential). I've been working from home and will probably do so for many more months. I work in a city that is going to be slow to open, especially mass transit and our buildings are large cube farms. Nothing will go back to normal for a long while I suspect. But I am working at least.

We started working at the office a couple days a week at the beginning of May. So currently, I am at the office 2 days a week, and working from home 3 days a week. They are hoping to gradually phase in more time at the office as we go into June. They are encouraging us to work odd hours when we are at the office to limit exposure, as well as wearing masks and gloves.

Been working from home the entire time. So has DH. It's been stressful at times juggling work and assisting 2 kids with all of their school work at the same time.

I have 2 jobs... I am a shift supervisor at Starbucks... and have been working the whole time (by the way I can't say enough good about how this company has treated us), and I also teach dance lessons. The dance studio is closed still... not sure when that will be allowed again. I miss being able to teach my kids. We have been doing volunteer Zoom classes during this whole thing, but it's not the same. I'm not even sure we will be able to open up again in September.

My wife and I have been working from home since mid-March. Our office is going to stay as work from home until August 1 as of now and each department head has the option to make work from home permanent going forward. I have had to go in from time to time but usually there is only one other person in the office.

I like working from home and do it usually at least one day a week under normal circumstances. I don't like working from home while entertaining a 3 year old but we just switch off and if we have to do stuff in the evenings to catch up that is what we do. Not ideal but not the end of the world either.

I've been working from home for 9 weeks now. Our office opened up last week on a volunteer basis. There are precautions in place in people decide to go in. You have to notify your manager before going in. We have to keep track of who is going in and where they sit if in a cube. We can't have people next to each other coming in so this is coordinating with other managers who have people mixed in our area.

I haven't gone in yet but may start late next week.

Nope. Still working from home. DH started working from the office last week. He and one other person from his office are going in. Anticipate working from home for another month.

I'm still working from home, I haven't heard any news on when they'll have us come back in to the office. We aren't prohibited from coming in, but temp checks and masks are required onsite and the recommendation is to work from home if possible.

Still working from home for me. DH has worked in person the entire time but was cut to 20 hours a week. We would have been better with a temporary layoff. No clue when they will return to full time. He is a maintenance supervisor for a well known hotel chain. They are still filling half their rooms each night mostly with pilots and flight crews.

I have worked from home for the last 12 years so no change to my routine. However, now DH works from home and youngest DD is doing online schooling. Oldest DD is an essential worker (pharmacy tech) so she has still been working normally. DH has no plans to go back to the office any time soon. The company we work for encouraged us to stay home as long as we want.

Thank god I never had to change my routine - I've been going to my office every day, without interruption. Financial services industry falls under 'essential', but I also volunteered to be the one employee out of 5 that keeps the office manned, while my 4 co-workers all work from home. Since I'm alone in the office, I'm just as safe here as I would be at home...and it's much nicer to get out of the house every day and go to an office environment. Plus, the commute went from 45 minutes normally to only 20 minutes!

Both DH and I have been working from home since March 16, looks like it will be indefinitely. Both of our employers already announced no vacation days can be carried over to next year. After having to cancel our March break trip to WDW, we each have 5 weeks vacation plus personal days (medical appts, etc) to use up by year end, with nowhere to go.

Except for the 2.5 weeks I had to stay home because DH tested postive (thankfully none of the rest of us did) I have been working as normal the entire time.

I am a SAHM, so nothing changed for me. DH has been working from home (payroll & taxes) since mid-March. They don't have a return date for in office, but knowing his bosses, it will be as soon as they're allowed. He has his own office, so I feel better about that. Our Gov just announced the loosing of restrictions, so I imagine he'll go back sometime over the next two months.

I'm a teacher's aide so I'm still home. Thankfully my state voted to continue to pay all school employees during the shutdown so my income hasn't changed. Though it has been pointed out to me that I would have been much better off on unemployment with that extra $600/week. Lol, $600 is about $150 more than I make in a week :)
