Are you avoiding peanut butter?

I wonder what will happen with Girl Scout cookies that have PB in them. Surely they have already been made. Wonder where that peanut paste is from?

We are eating our jars of PB.

Nope...In fact, after work, heading out to grab another can of Jif!

Canned PB is FINE. No reason to chuck it. With the cost of Jif(the ONLY kind I eat, BTW) there is NO WAY I would chuck it. They say the canned stuff is fine, so I am eating it!

DS, who's 18, did not get his PB captain crunch today.

DH and I got home from from getting groceries and snacked on abag of chocolate covered pretzels filled with peanut butter - THEN I turned on the computer and read about the recall! Yikes! We're fine, of course.

we're not avoiding jarred PB, but will avoid the other stuff until they sort this out!

:)

We're definitely not avoiding our jars of organic peanut butter!

But I can't see buying a bag of Reese's cups any time soon.

And that reminds me, about a month ago, a Dis'er ate a Reese's cup and it tasted really funny. She called the FDA I think, called Reeses, called the store that sold them.

Now I wonder....I mean you can't taste salmonella...or perhaps you can...send that Dis'er to become a food taster! Oh wait, that might not be healthy for the Dis'er.

For many reasons (ingredients) I wouldn't eat a Girl Scout cookie anymore, but this would definitely be a reason, since the only kind I like are the peanut butter and chocolate ones (which aren't even sold in my area so it's all moot).

Nope -opened a new jar today.....but then again, I only eat organic PB.

it takes 12-72 hours, so you are not safe yet! ;)

I am really not overly concerned. I wonder why cookies that have been cooked would be affected? I thought heat killed salmonella.

I'll keep buying my Jif and Peter Pan unless I am told otherwise.:)

I saw at my local Giant Food tonite, that it's just the pb crackers they've pulled from the shelves. All the jars are still there.

I remember that thread!!

I had peanut butter on an English muffin this morning. I have been using this jar since before the outbreak, so I guess if there was a problem, I would have been one of the original reports.

Well I wasn't until I read this.. Right about now the last thing I need is salmonella.. I'll continue to use the jar of peanut butter I've been using for weeks now, but I won't be purchasing anything with peanut butter in it..

I'm really getting very, very tired of not being able to trust our food supply.. It's ridiculous..:sad2:

We're eating it here. Ds's a vegetarian and it's part of his regimine. We won't be buying anything flavored with or things like Peanutbutter crakers though.

Nope. Just had a PB&J for breakfast because I forgot that I'm out of milk, so cereal was not an option. :)

We're not changing anything either, and peanut butter is a staple at our house, like milk or butter. We go through it pretty quickly.

More people get random food poisoning in a day than have gotten sick from this "outbreak" so I'll take my chances.
