Many of my family and friends know that I am hooked on several sites especially this one and have gathered a lot of info on WDW over the years. They think I'm nuts until they decide go to WDW then sure I don't seem so crazy then. :rotfl2: So I have helped 4 different families plan their trip. All ll I really did was tell them some useful tips that surprisingly many don't know like child swap, when to go to the parks etc. What they do with the info is up to them. One person borrowed my beloved binder. She loved it. We did a little planning together, as it was her first trip. I just helped her get organized and told her a little about each park so she can get an idea what to do or not. They were going during a busier time and had 4 days to do it in. So I'm curious, how many of you are unofficial WDW travel agents?

I'm a huge Disney planner. I think I should be on Disney's payroll...in the last years, I've convinced at least 4 families to plan a trip. THEN, when I know people going at about the same time as me - I send DAILY emails entitled 'Disney Tip O The Day' to them. It includes lots of money saving and line avoidance strategies.

But then, I'm a wanna-be travel planner for other trips too - I've successfully planned (complete with laminated itineraries) 2 years of annual Vegas trips with a bunch of girlfriends. And 2007's trip is coming up this Fall...anyone care to join us? We're lots of fun. :rotfl:

I consider it part of my community service :rotfl2:

Actually, I love helping people plan their trips...and convincing friends it's fun to go with a toddler if you do it right!

Hi....as i own a rental villa and go out to WDW at least twice a year i too trawl through the Disney sites for information for guests and friends like this one and the British version called thedibb.com, i find it a lot of fun helping people enjoy their Disney experience, like people helped me when i first went back in the early 90's. I found the Americans very nice and welcoming that we ended up buying a villa and always spend our vacation there.

In the past year I have convinced 4 families to buy DVC
I dont even own DVC

I think most of us here on the Dis need to be on Disney's payroll! ;) We're walking advertisements for the parks. Like OP said, people think you are crazy until they need advice on how to plan their trip...then your not so nuts after all.

Funny thing is DH actually has his TA license, but he got out of selling vacations to others many moons ago. Now we just use his TA discount for ourselves. Still, when anyone asks him about Disney...he refers them to me. :rotfl:

We finally bit the bullet and bought into DVC last month. :woohoo: Can't wait to start preaching that to the friends and family! :rotfl2:

I work in IT. Yesterday I received an email from a Customer Contact. Usually it would be asking for help with a server, or product information.

Nope, he wanted to know my advice on his upcoming Disney Trip. hahaha:rotfl:

It's funny you posted this. Yesterday I was playing tennis with some friends and one of the girls started talking about WDW. Another girl told her to ask me and I helped her start getting prepared to plan a trip next year.Needless to say we didn't get a lot of exercise! I've also helped some neighbors and another family at my church said they were coming to me before they go.

We definitley should be on Disney's payroll!

We're doing a grand gathering later this month and I am doing this with our group except mine's called "Destination Disney" How silly is that? But I love it!

Yes! I have helped my sister, cousin and when we went earlier this month with my DH's entire family I was the one who did all the trip planning for us. Between the trips and all the research I have done I get asked a lot of questions. My kids friend's moms are now starting to ask me :lmao: :lmao: . They've heard we have gone several times and are thinking it's time to start planning their own trips, so they ask me in the weirdest places. I ran into one of them on a walking trail right before we left and before I knew it 20 minutes (hello I'm trying to excersize and I only have so much time!) had gone by with me answering her questions. It was funny:rotfl: .

I am. I planned my AAA TA's WDW itenerary for her and gave her info and lots of tips, etc. and she said I should do it professionally! My chiropractor also went a couple of weeks ago and called me and asked me to come in for a free adjustment and talk to him and his girlfriend after he closed his office about tips and WDW strategies. Since we started going, I have passed on the Disney fever to friends and aquaintances. A lot of them hadn't been and had to finally take their kids because mine wouldn't stop going on about WDW!!!:wizard:

Oh...I pass off little envelopes with suggested itineraries in it to other moms during school drop-off. MY SIL just said "You make all the reservations, we'll just come". We tipped our neighbors off about free dining, another mom about magical beginnings, and talked our neighbors into DVC. I'm working on dd's best friend's mom for my next DVC conquest!

Me too!
My family, friends, colleagues and other consult with me about what to do, where to stay , what's new and my thoughts on other things as well. I really enjoy sharing my information with them and hope that they pass it on to someone else as well. Many times I have received emails from friends of friends who seek my advice. I do have to thank my Dis Board friends for providing me with so many details, suggestions and reassurances that my Disney plans are in working order!

It would be fun to just be a Disney Travel Agent and spend my days booking trips for others and planning everything!

Let's keep up the good work and help as many people as we can have a great Disney Trip Experience!! :wizard:

Well, nobody has asked me to help plan a trip. But, when my brother and sister-in-law found themselves with an unexpected day trip to the Magic Kingdom while chaperoning a group of teenagers, they did call me to say, "We are in the Magic Kingdom, tell us where to go and what to do!" I was in heaven giving them a little impromtu itinerary - they actually followed my advice and got to experience quite a bit during their 6 hour stay.

Me too! I have put together a couple of booklets with tips, maps and such for our trips and then re-tooled them for friends.
This was before I had kids of course. Now I am good if I can find time to shower.

we go to the Caribbean every year with DH's company. I am a research junkie [internet research] and everyone asks me what to do where to go etc. We always have the best times.

My parents went to Disney for a few of the days on or first trip last time. They had been before but had soooo much more fun with us despite making fun of my itineraries [did you plan for a restroom break...I'm sure you've all heard that. We did some things with them and some without.

This trip, they're doing everything with us. I'll ask they're opinion, and they jsut say, you just plan it and we'll show up, you do such a good job...

DH thinks I should do it for a living, but then it wouldn't be FUN!:lmao:

I research everything though. Getting a new cell phone, buying a new laptop, etc. I have to find the best deal and know everything there is to know.

My friends even call and ask me to research random things....bi-monthly mortgage, bed and breakfast in Illinois, whatever. It's fun!

I would love to find a job RESEARCHING on the internet. That would be cool!

Trish

Yay! I am glad to know I am not the only one! I deperately want to get a TA license so I can plan Disney vacations all the time. As it is I have probably helped 7 families with their trips, corrected a AAA TA on misinformation (She told my mom that resort guests only got EMH if they booked with a package), and told a friend who has owned DVC for 10 years about tours....she had on idea Disney even did tours!

Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone know of a good program to get a TA license? None of the continuing ed schools in my area do them anymore.

Thanks!
