Are you always borrowed into the next year?

We just bought this month. We have borrowed all of 2006 points for a trip of 20 people. My DH  has addonitis (truth be told so do I) :rotfl2: We have bought another 30 points that we banked and are going to use next year and borrow from 2007. :rotfl:

Wow, you just bought this month and you've already added on? I'm impressed! I bought in Dec, haven't been yet, bought the minimum 150 and am dreaming of getting a 50 point or so add on. I don't know what to do!!

We bought in August 04 and after careful planning managed to borrow only three points of 2006 for our trips in 2005!
However, I just got off the phone with our guide and purchased an additional 120 pts. We haven't made it to our first trip home and we are already planning as far ahead as 2007 for the oldest DD graduation from HS. :rotfl2:

I know the feeling, I haven't been on 1st trip home yet, either and I am kicking myself for not getting at least 50 more points, at least enough for the weekends. I have been torturing myself over this, I think I'll take my 2 trips in '05 and see how it goes.

Thanks for the replies! I am trying to not convince myself that we need to add on again! We have added on 100 points 2X since we bought. Never enough! I keep telling myself that eventually we will get caught up since we took 3 big family trips within the last 2 years. But, I find myself wanting to go on a trip and we are in the borrowing mood!

We just bought via resale (Dec UY) and are using 1/2 of our '05 points with the full '04 contingent left on the contract for an extended family trip this May. I see no problem in borrowing. We bought these things to use them, our kids will only be young for so long...

We have borrowed every year since purchasing...just cant help it.This year we actually might make it to our use year (aug) with points still available..

ha! I still have 50 points to use this year and might even *gasp* bank them...that said - I am expecting so our number of trips has been cut back until I am more in travel mode again...so by next year - probably be borrowing and "in debt" from then on. :goodvibes

We don't even get points until August and and I already have our points planned, including borrowing al of 07 next year. We are doing the marathon in August adn then the Alaska cruies later next year. It's for our 10 yr anniv, though. I'm sure we won't be borrowing again for quite some time! ;)

I just keep telling myself that our contract expires in 2053. I can see us being permanently borrowed...

We are in a constant state of borrowing. Stephen said we will never add-on, so we just borrow. Now that our girls are married, and will be having more kids, I think we'll be doing a lot of banking/borrowing to make it all work. I am hoping that, when we start taking grandkids, Stephen will relent and add on at least 50, if not 100. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Absolutely! We'll borrow until we have no choice but to pay cash. What's the point of not borrowing? You never know what the future holds so why spend the cash if you don't have to!?!? We prefer DVC resorts anyway and cash would most likely mean Pop or AS, neither of which appeal to me at all!

I think I've always been dipping into the next years points. Part of the reason I bought originally was I was planning a big vacation (costing about $5k in room costs alone), I worked out I could buy DVC ( cost about $12k at the time) have enough accommodation for that trip AND get free passes for the next 6 years. It took me a few years to build up having even some points in the current year, but IMHO it made economic sense to do so. From a financial point of justifying the purchase, if you are using points ahead of the time they are paid/accounted for you are, in theory, saving $$.
That said now I am living in central Florida I may find I actually don't use all my points ahead of time and I may actually have to bank some points, although I think it more likely I'll rent them out.

We use points at both Disney "homes" and exchanges thru Interval International - we are always in "borrow" mode!
