I am helping my sister plan her trip in August (as well as my own!). She wants to visit a beach during her trip, can she go to one of the resorts and use the beach or is that a big no no like pool hopping?

There are signs on the beach stating the beach is for the use of resort guests. That aside none of the beaches really offer anything in my opinion worth the hassle of going to. You can not swim in the water. I would just book a resort with a beach area and problem taken care off.

Okay thanks! Problem solved, I didn't know you couldn't go in the water...not sure she is much of a swimmer anyway...But I told her there is too much to do at Disney that she won't even care to be at the beach. But the loving sister that I am , I told her I would get back to her on that.

I have gone to other resorts that have a beach (Poly and Beach Club) and have ordered a drink at the pool bar, then strolled down to the beach to walk through the sand. I think that is totally acceptable, if your sis is only looking for a little sand through the toes and a pretty view of the lake.

I have done what Haramba has done many times without any problems. Good way to take a break from the parks

Make sure you tell your sister that the water is not very clean, and sometimes there are alligators! 2 reasons they don't allow swimming.

they do allow water mice and sprites! What's up with that? I guess they hope no one falls in or runs over an alligator?

And if your sister visits one of the beaches later in the day, remind her to put on some insect repellant! It's the best place to get nasty mosquito bites.

we sat on the beach at the Poly and watched the fireworks one evening - it was quite a pleasant way to spend an evening, but it isn't like going to the shore and spending the day at the beach.

Just stay the heck away from the pool. They have snipers posted on the buildings WATCHING YOU!

I think I saw one of those snipers, although he seemed to be ignoring the people that were hopping from different resorts, he was all over anyone that tried to save a line for anyone having to go to the bathroom while waiting for the slide.

Well, I've taken a little beach walk at the Poly (after I dined at the Kona Cafe) to check things out, but I would not swim or even stick a toe in that lake water :scared1: - I just strolled on the beach and walked off my meal. I don't see why that would be a problem.

Too funny about the snipers. Yeah I think I have convinced my sister not to do the beach thing now. She has no clue how busy she is really going to be anyway, she is going with her daughter and her boyfriend's 3 kids and they are all different ages!!!!!
