:rolleyes1, I never was before but last 5-6 years I got all kinds of rules the hotel must have, cant afford most expensive often, but still Im real picky

I usually go for a four star or higher using Hotwire. Except at Disney. I can only do Shades of Green.

At Disney. We'll do a night at POP if we have to before the rest of our DVC stay, but no values for us.

does Hotwire just have better rates or do you have to like put in your price and see what happens

I'm actually not a hotel snob, which surprises my friends because they say, in a loving way of course, I am a snob in so many ways. I just politely tell them it's not snobbery I just have a higher set of standards than most.

I will stay at any hotel that doesn't charge by the hour and the neighborhood is decent.

Nope. I love nice hotels as much as anyone else, but I stay wherever my hubby is willing to pay for us to stay. At Disney we stay on property but I don't care where. I have preferences of course but if for a trip now and then we can only do value then I am ok with that. We have stayed in some pretty skeezy places before, usually as stops on our way to somewhere nicer. If staying in one gross place on the way there means I get to go one a great trip, I will definitely stay in the gross place.

I would love to always stay in nicer hotels but sometimes financially it just makes more sense to stay in the cheaper less desirable place. I am pretty frugal and practical.

Yes, I am. If a place isn't as nice or nicer than my own home I have a hard time staying.

I don't consider myself a snob because I don't look down on others but I do stay at Four Seasons, Raffles, Ritz when I travel

Not in the slightest. The only thing I ever do in a hotel is sleep and shower. It's a place for me to spend the night becauses the places I visit won't let me sleep on a park bench :p I pack a LOT into my vacations because I want to enjoy my time away. Staying at the hotel is silly to me.

I am

No Motel 6 or LaQuinta or RedRoof Inn for me;)

Hampton Inn is the cheapest one I'll stay in

At Disney I will not even THINK of the Budgets or the Moderates:scared1:

But I am a budget gal so we stick to WL or AKL....but now its

The swan:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2

I've become more picky about hotels as I have gotten older. I expect clean. I don't want a window air unit. Don't care about room service or a newspaper left at the door, but soft bedding is important to me.

No outside doors, please. Preferably sheets and towels thick enough that I can't see through them.

I've stayed in some nice hotels for conferences, but when we visit family, there aren't many choices.

With 3 kids, we'll sacrifice a little quality for extra room.

That is a good point, but I love a nice room with a great view, and at the end of the day I want luxury when Im relaxing in room, plus hotel has to have a little store in it, and restaurants just in case

Yes, we usually do not go for cheaper hotel chains unless there is nowhere else to stay like when we visit DS at her college. Otherwise we go with 3 start hotels. We do like Disney moderates ( the only one be been is POR).

I guess for me, I'd rather use the money I'd spend on a bed for the night and use it to DO something... or EAT something... or BUY something.

I'm exactly the same way. I only want a very sturdy, safe lock on the door, a room that is clean, no mold or mildew, and definitely no bed bugs. I only use the room to sleep & shower. The rest of my time is spent outside of the room.

There was a recent thread where someone was asking about a hotel resort for $2300. I told her to stay in the next town over, which I know she probably could have found a decent hotel for $500.

I'd take that extra $1800 to DO activities like: helicopter rides over the Grand Canyon, the jeep tour, etc. Use that money to pay for a room that mostly I experience in my sleep? No way! :p

I travel a lot. So maybe hotel rooms aren't such a novelty to me? I don't need perks in my room. :confused3

I wouldn't call myself a snob, and I certainly don't judge people based on where they stay, but I do like to stay in nicer hotels and will typically only stay in a nicer hotel unless there is no other option.

Most important to my family is space. We generally need a suite, or two connecting rooms, so that we can spread out and have our own space.

Generally in a large city we'll stay in a Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons or some small hotel, or in a Marriott or Embassy Suites in a smaller city. We have stayed in an occasional Residence Inn, Courtyard or Doubletree and have found them to be perfectly fine, but we are creatures of habit and prefer to stay with what we know we like.

I'm not but I want it clean.

I compare most places to the Dolphin and the Swan because they are two of the nicest places I have stayed.
I always compare WDW hotels to the S/D too and the S/D always wins!!!!

We have DVC and all of them have been nice so far. :)
