Are You a "Hot Tub Hog?"

I mentioned this on another thread, but I think the thread has kind of "died" so I thought I would make this a separate post.

It annoys me to no end to see a group of people in a hot tub and stay, and stay...and STAY some more, never giving others a chance to use it.

When DH and I use a hot tub on the ship we only stay in it 15-20 minutes, then get out so others have a chance.

So, I was just wondering...are YOU a "hot tub hog?" And if you ARE, how do you justify "hogging it" so others can't use it?

To everyone else, does it bother you to see people stay in the hot tubs too long? And, to you, how long is "too long?"

No, I am not a hot tub hog. I have never even been in one on the ship.
But I thought that for health reasons that you shouldn't stay in a hot tub for a long period of time.

I really enjoy relaxing in the hot tub...at about 6:30 am. There are very few people around, the sun is just starting to rise, and my family is asleep! Coffee, croissant, and the hot tub...a perfect start to the day!

I am not a morning person...but what you just desccribed sounds heavenly!! I think I may have to try it...my husband will definitely think I've lost my mind, though!

I'm a hot tub hog and proud of it!
Actually, I've never though of it in those terms, as it has never been so full that hubby and I were keeping people from using it. On embarkation day, we traditionally spend an hour or so in the hot tub relaxing and people watching. Normally it's more of a "luke warm tub" so you can stay in for quite a while. However, on our trip last weekend, the heat was cranked up way high so we spent some of the time just dipping our feet.
The only times that I've ever seen the adult hot tubs really crowded are around sailaway from Castaway Cay or sea days when we are on the Magic. There have been times when there are large groups who stay in for a while, but I've never felt like they should cut their enjoyment short to make room for me. I just come back a little later. Vacation's too short to stress about wanting to get in the hot tub...too much else to do.

Well, Cash won't let me spend too much time anywhere he considers unsafe and near-boiling water full of wriggling bald pink things plus their scales and body oils is WAY off the charts for him. I do think he'd let me swim in the pool, though if he would be allowed to frolic in the little Mickey pool ..If it's good enough for untrained babies it should be ok for a dog.... or a hog...right?

It is generally considered dangerous after 15 minutes in terms of increasing blood pressure - but when in Rome!!!

I hog my hot tub at home - generally soaking three times a day and I have no guilt over it at all!!

My family and I have enjoyed the hot tubs on ship and haven't found them crowded when we were there - but I enjoy the ship most when we are at ports and no one is around!!!!

Ditto on the "Hot Tub Hog"! Even in the cold of winter I enjoy the tub. But I will try and behave myself and not "hog" while on the Magic!

My husband and I did not use the hot tubs on our trip. I think I would have been more inclined to if they didnt have a shelter over the top of them. It would be really nice to be in one at night and look up at the stars. I am now wondering if we missed one that did not have a cover, we never went to quiet cove. I think plutospup has the right idea though, I might have to try that next time.

Thanks Barb, I think I'll still try plutospups idea though and watch the sunset in a hot tub, that sounds wonderful! Does anyone know what time they open up?

On our Western cruise in April 2003 there was a man we dubbed "Hot Tub Man" because he spent all day/every day in the hot tub. He would get out only long enough to do push ups on the side of the tub!! It was actually pretty comical!

LOL!!! I though that hubby and I were hot tub hogs, but "Hot Tub Man" definitely has us beat. I've found that the hot tubs are a great place for chatting and socializing with fellow cruises. We've had so many interesting conversations in the tubs.
I have a stunning confession to make: I am also a "Tile Lounger Hog" in the Rainforest. Get me in one of those with a good novel and you'll never be able to pry me out unless it's time for a spa treatment, show, or meal.
