Ditto, Just got the email a little while ago and wanted to say I joined also on the initial day. Now I am a true Disney fan!!!

Nice drinking glass by the way regarding the Eiffel Tower...When I first saw that I was like hmmm, that looks really familiar and I think its because they either had or still have something similar they sell at Las Vegas Paris. At least the last time I was there that is what they had a few years back.

UPDATE: Oops didn't see your follow up post regarding where you bought it, and you stated it was definitely Las Vegas Paris...Thought that looked familiar!

I got my email too that its being shipped!! Yea!! I'm another one that signed up on the first day....but I have to tell yall that I'm a little disappointed that the D23 expo will be in Calif fo the next 4 years.....

Same here...email saying the kit was shipped. I saw someone on another board (not sure which) that got theirs, but only the card. So don't be surprised if there are two separate shipments. I can't wait to find out what the surprise gift is.

I just got the membership card, but it says that within 1-2 weeks the welcome letter, membership certificate and the first copy of the disney 23 mag will be delivered. then the special gift will be mailed separately.

I just bit the bullet and joined tonight. Now to wait for the package plus the other "stuff" that I bought on disney shopping.

This Card's sole purpose is to confirm the current D23 Membership status of the D23 Member whose name appears on it. When presented, along with valid photo identification and required paid admission, ticket, or reservation, this Card also grants the D23 Member access to D23 Member special events, including one-hour early admission to the D23 Expo, but does not guarantee entry when space is limited. This card does not entitle the D23 Member to free or discounted admission to, or any other special privileges with, any Disney or Disney-affiliated entity, location, or program, including without limitation theaters, retail locations, theme parks, resorts, cruise ships, online destinations, restaurants, merchandise outlets or service providers. This Card is nontransferable, by sale or otherwise, must be surrendered upon request, and expires and is of no further use or value on expiration date that appears here.

I just recieved my 2nd package. I had the magazine, certificate, a letter from Bob Iger and a small decal to put on your car or whatever. Don't worry, the decal is NOT the special gift, the letter says that will follow shortly.

That's a cute picture. Got my membership card on Saturday. I feel so, "official". I'm so excited to get the rest of it. Now if only I were REALLY 23. :sigh:

D23 Joins Forces with One Man's Dream
03.26.09 - One Man's Dream has long been a fan favorite at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Now, the beloved attraction, which pays homage to the life and vision of Walt Disney, now celebrates the fans who are equally important to the Disney legacy. Starting tomorrow, One Man's Dream will be presented by D23 with new "D23 Welcomes You" signage on the marquee.

"D23 is the ultimate Disney fan community and One Man's Dream is the ultimate attraction tribute to Walt Disney in our parks so they fit together perfectly," explains Eric Jacobson, senior vice president, Walt Disney Imagineering, whose team thought of partnering with D23 on the endeavor. "One Man's Dream showcases the history of Walt Disney and The Walt Disney Company and gives our Guests a look at what is new around the world and a sneak peak at what's coming. D23 has a similar mission for its members."

The partnership includes new D23 theming and a new display case featuring the room of a Disney fan (we won't say whose!), adding to the robust collection of Disney history currently on display. "One Man's Dream is a collection of artifacts, models, memorabilia and special effects," adds Eric. "It appeals to the Disney fans because it can't be seen anywhere else."

Many of those pieces came from the Walt Disney Archives, which is a big part of the D23 community. "So it's only natural and fitting that the One Man's Dream exhibit should be presented by D23," notes Becky Cline, manager of the Walt Disney Archives and a D23 team member.

Artifacts from the Archives, which have long been a part of the attraction, include Jimmie Dodd's Mouseguitar from the 1955 Mickey Mouse Club, original props from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Walt Disney's working office.

The new D23 display case features items the Archives team pulled together — all pieces a real Disney fan might own. "There's some fun stuff," Becky says, including the Ultimate WALL·E, a "Treasures of the Archives" lithograph and the five-Mickey pin set which was very first Walt Disney Archives Collection item. "Plus, a lot of the books are favorites for us in the Archives like Disney Animation: The Illusion of Life by Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston, The Disney Poster Book and of course from the Disney Archives, Disney A to Z by our very own Dave Smith!" Becky adds.
