Are You 23?

No, I already bought a membership, now I'm trying to sign in as a member.

The merchandise changes everytime I look! There are now more clothes than earlier today and I only see ONE bag when this morning, there were three....

OH, I see what you're saying. I don't think you have to sign in anywhere yet.

I just went here and started clickin' around.

I want this pen.

poe_H_01.jpg

No that is going to be MY pen... especially if its the fountain pen.

Like I said on another post today.. Im going to go ahead and spend the money. If after the one year, it doesnt measure up, then I am not going to renew. I have a Celebrations subscription. I had a Disney Magazine subscription when they were smart to have one. This one may or may not work out. Its worth a shot for me.

I'm so glad to be back over here (now I know why THIS is the adult forums) after hearing so many people complain and cry because they can't have something for nothing. At least now, if I'm ever feeling a lack of magic, I know where to go for a quick eye opener...and I can be thankful I'm not that much of a negative person.

Sha, I strayed, I left the adult forums and posted elsewhere...forgive me for I have sinned!!!

:confused3

Did anyone order any merchandise yet? My friend said she ordered the bracelet as soon as she signed up! I put some things in my basket but didn't order yet. I'd like to get at least a shirt with the launch date and I think the charter year pin would be a good investment! Did anyone else notice that two bags that were up yesterday morning are no longer available? One was a small, red messanger bag and one was a black duffel bag. I wonder if they sold out?

I understand what you said about other parts of the site. I used to be a HUGE contributor to one of the other boards way back when. Now, I can't even read the topics, let alone spend time posting. Most of it is just the topics, but some of it is personalities, and some of it the "tone".

Anyway, I'm the same about the "give it a year and see" attitude with this. So far, I'm under-whelmed by the events listed on the D23 Fan Site, "Note:
You do not need to be a member of D23 to attend this event." Not that I want to be exclusionary, but I was expecting a few events for members only, not unlike the AP events here at WDW.

Well, i signed up last night... another one of the "i'll give it a year and see what happens"....

Based on what I've read so far, I'm not convinced I'll find it a good deal yet. Think I'll wait until people have a bit more experience with the program before signing up.

Exactly, too many people "giving the impression" of wanting something for nothing. I don't think this was ever setup to be a loyalty club for free, which is what some of them seemed to think. Of course, any dissenting views were immediately attacked and accused of being insulting.

I understand what you're saying about the events, I would love to possibly attend one at WDW and wish they had one there. But, maybe they will add things. How about re-opening Adventurers Club to D23 members only?

After hearing some of the rants and raves by a few who have a sense of entitlement in some of the other boards, I have come to the following conclusion. There's an article on the D23 site that makes it clear that Disney is reading what we say, as it makes several quotes from "various sites" (laughing place by name) of funny things we guessed D23 would be about. If I were an executive and read some of the bad comments being made now, I would reward those people who had faith "from day 1", maybe those who joined during the first week. I would extend a few special perks to those folks to reward them for their loyalty. I would do this to prevent the other guys from waiting until we start getting perks, and then joining up to get them at that point...I would definitely reward those who took the first plunge, it would be fitting.

Who knows, maybe that will happen...maybe "our" special gift will be better than what's offered in the future. Either way, I have a feeling some folks will be a day late and a dollar short and wish they would have joined up from the start.

Yea, i hear ya! Its weird though, i thought there would be alot more chatter on the boards about the D23, and ive only found one thread other than this... :confused3

Oh, you haven't been to the right place...one board has a half dozen threads.

Ok Joe, I found one of the topics you mentioned. From what I could see based on the quoted replies, you seemed to be expressing a passionate and counter opinion (that I agree with) to numerous passionate comments. It sure seemed like you got ganged up on some too. I've never been a fan of the "I'll just yell louder than you until I grind you into the dirt" school of discussion/debate that I saw in the first few pages. Then again, I'm pretty much a conflict avoider, and probably wouldn't have had the guts to speak my mind the way you did either.

"conflict avoider"...uh oh, so much for the manly hero persona I was trying to cultivate :scared:

I broke down and decided to sign up and give it a try. I figured I probably waste more a month then the $6.25 per month it works out to be. All I had to do was lower my Nexflix level from $16.99 to $8.99. Who knows what may be offered to members in the future, also maybe the Special Collectible Gift is something really cool.

Well, had I known then I wouldn't have posted either...my mistake. Oh well, live and learn.

I have faith and I really do think that those of us who got in on the ground floor will be rewarded, while others are looking in and kicking themselves asking "why didn't I do it too".

Keep the faith!!! :thumbsup2

Keep the faith!!! :thumbsup2

Rob....

if you are interested to see the 1st issue magazine D23 some of your local TDS are already showcasing it out... you can go and browse they should have atleast a couple open/out of plastic sleeves...

The magazine is $15 an issue if sign on for the membership... you get 4 issue ($60 if you buy it at your local TDS or at the parks) magazine.. really nice prints etc... I am sold when I saw the magazine... then you have that surprise gift... assuming that it would be about $10 and then the paper they use for your certificate would be about $5 PLUS getting discounts for upcoming merchandises so I think you get your money's worth...

have not gotten an answer about the cost of renewing the membership fee... got mix answer but most def'ly not $75...

also in their rumor mill that yes AP got to see previews at the park the D23 will hopefully get you discounts or some type of point system for Disney movies and stuff...

so yeah the 1st year = wait and see process for me is already sold and situated.. it is the after 12 months where my question lies...

Good luck on your purchase!!!

if you decide not to join there is still a way in getting it (the Magazines) for a much cheaper price...

1. if you have those coupons from TDS between %15 to %45 (so far the CM at the local TDS are not aware that it is not included so alot were buying today the magazine becasue they have that coupon that they got from a pre order Pinocchio...

2. you wait till the TDS is having a Sale or

3. wait for it to go on clearance :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 ... no membership fee and get to enjoy the magazine!!!)

again it is Disney Math talking/thinking here:cloud9:

I'll probably join this year and then see how it goes for the future

I would really like to join but the $75 and $50 and exchange for shipping and handling to Canada puts it out of the budget. I hope all the members enjoy their charter membership :)

I'm one of the ones who are going to let my disfriends try it first... I've been disappointed at Disney's gimmicks as of late.

Also, many of the events that were showcased are in Disneyland- I'm not in the position (nor will I be in the position in the foreseeable future) to be able to take advantage of these events. I'll give it a few months tho. Timmy and Sha, make sure you keep me posted! :goodvibes
