our long awaited final family vacation begins with me, the mom not being able to sleep for two straight days due to high anticipation and extreme excitement overload, not a good way to begin a major trip with sleep deprevation. ARE WE THERE YET?? i was packed and ready to go for weeks, whats the hold up? my family is begining to avoid me or making phone calls to have me taken away. can an adult actually be worse than a small child waiting for christmas to come and be on pins and needles the whole time? YES. i was so into this vacation i was driving myself crackers. its not like we haven't been to disney before. so anyway in the wee hours of july 1st i merrily awaken my son, 19 yrs. old who will be off to the seminary in a few short weeks and my daughter, 21 years old who ironically will be off to become a sister in a religious order in a few weeks also, (me i'm preparing novena's to make this trip a success, with budwiser chasers of course, just kidding). its 3am i've been fully dressed for two hours and our flight will be leaving out of phila. at 6:30am. the airport is a short 20 minute drive from our house and i'm more than ready to go now. my friend arrives to pick us up, she has bloodshot eyes and severe allergy things happening, i panic thinking she won't be able to see to get us to the airport. she reassures me that she's fine and my family thinks i missed that little crazy finger thing as they snicker at me in front of my back. ok enough already, can we go now. we load up the car and finally we're off to have the adventure of a lifetime. 17 days of disney. 3 park days, 4 day wonder cruise, 2 more park days, then a 7 day magic cruise. i can't stand the excitement. now normally i have a big fear of flying, but if that big old silver cylinder thing is going to get me to disney fast then i'm game. we board early, take off on time and the whole flight goes smoothly, i breathe a giant sigh of relief, whew, we made it it one piece and pry my hands from the armrests in order to get off the plane, i hardly notice the indentations in my hands. it doesn't matter cause we're that much closer to disney. as we walk to baggage claim i can't help but have the inner glow that we're just starting our trip and have lots of fun filled days ahead of us. its a great feeling, even better we're right on schedule according to my preplanning agenda. we wait patiently at baggage claim for our 4 checked bags. 3 bags appear right off, yeah, we're on a roll. then we wait and wait and no 4th bag. this is not on my schedule. off to the baggage claim office with a few other happy travelers. our bag didn't make the flight. huh?? how can that be? we were there 2 hours before take off, the guy besise me got there 30 mins. before take off so i can see why his bag got delayed. the very nice lady tells us that another phila. plane has just landed and our luggage could possibly be on that plane, it wasn't. no worries. u s air will send it to our resort. good. lets go. who needs luggage now anyway. so off to budget car rental where everything goes according to plan and we are now officially off to see the mouse, right after we make a quick grocery stop at a local publix where we were very amused that after they bag your things the have someone take your cart out to your car and place the bags in it and don't want a tip. wow. now we're officially off again to the world. we arrive at the POR and check in is a breeze. we get everything i requested, magnolia terrace, first floor, non smoking, two double beds, and to our surprise we are by the quiet pool, main walkway by the gazebo and the bridge to 'ol man island, perfect. we drop what luggage we have and we drive over to fort wilderness and park the car and hop on a bus thats waiting and head over to trails end buffetteria where we have a fantastic lunch with a cm named alex from austraila who was quick with the refills and told lots of jokes as we ate.life was good. i was happy and we were on schedule. we went back to the room and my kids insisted that i take a little nap to regroup. WHAT!! are you crazy? we're in disney. there's no napping in disney. i'm ready to go. but since we got to the room and found the room safe key was missing and i didn't want to carry around all our essentials i had no choice but to have some quality room time while we waited for security to come and give us a new key. my son deceided to go to downtown disney for some quick c d purchases and my daughter and i chilled out in the room, litterally, it was almost snowing in there. had to lower the ac some.

how long did you have to wait for your luggage to show up?

Great report so far!

:earseek: Wow, I can't believe it! We checked in at POR on July 1st-Magnolia Terrace, 2nd Floor on the quiet pool side, right above you I bet! (Hope we didn't make too much noise! LOL!) I loved our location too! I wish I would have known, we could have officially met.
