We are currently booked from April 23 to May 2:cool1: That is 9 nights and that is what we usually do for our Disney Trips. This is our first Universal trip. I'm wondering from reading the boards that it may be too long and we will get bored.? We are staying onsite. We are also doing discovery cove one day and seaworld another day. I was also thinking of an aquatica or wet n wild day. We have 7 day park to park tickets currently.

We arrive early Saturday (10:00) and leave early afternoon the following Monday. So that is 8 full days and one half day. I know my husband wants to see a lot of city walk and eat at Hard Rock, NBA, etc.

Do you think we will be OK or is it too much time there and we will get bored??

With the other parks you're thinking of doing, I think that's just the right amount of time. Remember this isn't Disney...you don't have to rush around to see everything. Relax and enjoy the time you're on vacation. :thumbsup2

Relax? relax on vacation? People do that:)?? We have been to disney for the last 5 vacations and while we love it, I just feel we need a vacation when we get home. It's up very early, constant running here and there to this ADR and that ADR. It's exhausting! I was kinda hoping for a more laid back vacation this time. I think we can sleep a little later as we will have the front of the line passes. We really only need to do harry potter one morning as we aren't big fans. So I was hoping for some hotel pool time and just stoping and smelling the roses. Taking in the shows, doing city walk leisurely. We never get to spend much time at Downtown Disney on our vacations because we are constantly rushing.

I just hope we aren't going to be bored. I don't see how we would be but most people on here think 2 to 3 days is enough time.

Yes...people do relax while on vacation...but not people who come to Disney.

You've got the right attitude so I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time and will feel relaxed when you get back home instead of needing to check into a day spa to unwind.
;)

We went for 8 nights/ 9 days. We went to Discovery Cove 1x, SeaWorld 2x and the rest of the days went to US/IOA. We stayed on site at HRH. We didn't get bored. The kids loved that they could ride their favorites over and over. Unfortunately that is something they rarely get to do at Disney because of the lines and the need to see other things. We also did get to relax; another thing we don't do much of at Disney. :goodvibes The kids played the pool games, we relaxed with drinks by the pool, swam lots of times, watched a few movies in our room etc... I love Disney, but it was so nice not to have to rush, rush, rush....:thumbsup2 It was also nice not to have to do tons of planning; other than our day at DC, we just went to the park we felt like going to each day.

i stay 8 days on site at universal and never run out of things to do.

and i go solo........

this isn't my first trip by no means.....

I have stayed from 2 weeks to 4 weeks on site, and never bored. We very seldom do Disney now, usually SW , and always plenty to do, and like Metro Westsays, relax a little. No need to be up and out early to get things done, we spend lots of time at the resort pool, and Citywalk and the hotels always have things going on at night

Thank you all for the replies! I feel better now. I was worried I was wasting money by staying longer. It sounds like we can have enough to do but can do it on our time instead of Disney time. I can't wait now!

catch some of the little 'interesting' things to do at the on site hotels.

the torch lighting ceremony at RPH is something to do one time.

in all the years i have been staying on site, last october was the first time i took the time for the torch lighting ceremony.

While you're there, taking your time and doing you thing, set challenges for yourself. Fun ones, of course. Maybe even try searching for scavenger hunts online, as there are a LOT of hidden things that most people would miss.

Examples:
-Try to find "Plymouth Rock"
-Try to get a better and better score on MIB
-Ride HRRR enough times to find your favorite song on it (hidden tracks or otherwise)
-Ride ET several times using different names/puns
-Find Zax Bypass
-Find the Golden Kong in ROTM
-Listen to the different phone messages in Marvel Island
-Wander through the alleyways of the New York area
-Take lots of silly pictues

If you like pools you can kill three afternoons just going to a different pool each day. You can see movies, try lots of restaurants, shop and generally just chill. (That sounds good right now.)

If you do get restless, call a taxi and head off somewhere. You mentioned Discovery Cove and Seaworld. There are shopping venues nearby, Aquatica or Wet n Wild of course and lots of mini golf and other smaller attractions on and around International Drive. I suspect that you'll be fine.

DS and I were listening to one of the phones during our last trip and Spiderman ran up and asked us if there was a crime in progress that he should know about. We assured him that everything seemed to be under control and he ran off again. That moment was pretty sweet. :)

Ha ha. It's always great when the characters interact like that.
