Are We Snobs?

Friends of ours just asked us yesterday to come to Orlando with them in October. They have a condo time-share a few miles from WDW. We could stay there free for a week, just have to rent a car to get around, and to and from the airport. We think we are going to politely turn them down. We just really want to be on site when we go back, and be able to do the DDP, and just be in the middle of all the magic! If we did go with them, that would be our trip for the next several years. Are we being snobs? Does anyone else feel this way ?:confused3

Politely decline, explain all the benefits of staying onsite, and invite them to do the same as well.

Nothing snobby about that is there ?

absolutely not!! Many years back I went with my cousin and we stayed off site. After 3 nites we checked into POFQ. My cousin choose not to. Your vacation has to be special for you.

Why don't you split your stay and stay with your friends either the first night or the last night of your trip.

I think 2 families in one condo is a tight squeeze anyhow

To us there is nothing like staying onsite. Apparently the same is true with you. There is nothing wrong with that, and if that is your last vacation there for a couple of years then you should make YOUR vacation what you want.

You could go with them, stay at the condo, rent a room at a value for all 4 of you and add the DDP.

You could use the room for during the day breaks - you could use the pool - you can eat at all the cool Disney places and go back to the condo and hae plenty of room each night....

ive done both and will never stay offsite again. i have however years ago stayed on hotel plaza blvd and consider that onsite. and although i have never stayed there i would consider the swan and dolphin onsite

Personally, the only way to really experience WDW is staying onsite. We've stayed offsite twice (1992, 1998) and I will never do it again because of the onsite convience. And, no, you are most certainly not a snob. :)

I'm the same way. We had friends who said we can stay at their timeshare in Orlando too...I have no desire to do that. I'd rather be right in Disney.

I have relatives nearby Orlando, and every trip to Disney we stayed off-site. if not with the relatives, than hotels somewhere.

Since I am an adult, I have always stayed on-site. Many familiy members think it is unnecessary, but if they just tried it ONCE, they would understand!!

And how does relate to a Disney Resort?....I'm confused.

Definitely stay on site. Since you will not be back for a few yrs, you would probably be sorry if you stayed off site. I know that I wouldn't do it. Like you, I feel that staying on Disney property IS going to WDW. Having the DDP just makes it all the more obvious why you should do it!!

I'm with you on this one, wait to stay on site. Especially if this is gonna be your main trip for several years, make the absolute most of it. My fiance take this a bit further, and our rule is that once we are on Disney property for our vacations, we do not leave, whether its 2 nights or 10:)

I have to agree, we stayed at Shades of Green on our 2nd trip and while it is a beautiful hotel, we really prefer the Disney resorts. For us on property is the only way.

ON SITE!

Tell them to stay with you, maybe they could tour the DVC and come on over to the other side!!!

No, you're not being snobs! If I couldn't stay on site, I wouldn't go. It's your vacation so you should stay where you will be happy.

The onsite / offsite questions always show up here or on the Orlando hotels board. Since you asked! :)

Thank You!
I guess I've seen those/these types of questions on the Orlando (area) hotels board before, but not noticed them here before.
:)
