Who we are: :earsgirl: me (ryan840) 26, pirate: DH 29, :tigger: DS 2.75, :earboy2: DS 9 weeks (at the time)
Where we were: Old Key West 4/30 – 5/5, Pop Century 5/5 – 5/7
What we ate- Lots and lots of yummy food. We did the dining plan and LOVED it!

As a heads up to anyone out there with mommy brain or any other brain malfunctions, I’ll start my trip very early Saturday morning (the day before we arrive in WDW) where I make a devastating discovery. It seems that in my baby-hazed state of mind I almost threw an entire year of planning right out the window! I had been unable to pack until the last minute, so Friday night after the kids were in bed I got started. As I was gathering all the documents we would need, it hit me out of nowhere that since we were so wise to rent points at OKW for the first part of our stay and book a AAA package with 10 day non expiring park hoppers (to use on future trips) for the last two days, our tickets were linked to our Pop Century stay and were therefore unavailable to us until May 5th. My heart starts racing and I go wake up my husband to tell him that I messed up BIGTIME, practically in tears at my own stupidity. I mean, I’m a DISer! How could I have done this???

Since it is around 3:30am and I can’t do anything until CRO opens, I try to convince myself that Disney would never let something like this ruin someone’s vacation. In the meantime, I pop on the DISboards to find out if anyone else has done this. It appears as though I’m the only one… :rolleyes1 I get lots of support that everything will be ok, and when 7:00 rolls around I’m on the phone with CRO being told that nothing can be done by a rather unhelpful CM. Now I really am in tears as I call and speak to another CM who is more empathetic but since I booked through AAA they can’t do anything to help- I’ll have to call AAA. I ask to speak to a supervisor and get the runaround, and in the middle of it all my phone drops the call. Lovely. I try to contact my AAA agent and their office is of course closed on Saturdays but there is an emergency line for this type of thing. So I call the EMERGENCY number they give, and they’re closed on weekends too. :furious: I’m now hysterical that two people have told me I’m SOL and there is nobody left to talk to so my husband takes over. He calls CRO back and gets another empathetic CM, but same story –can’t help you. So he too requests to speak to a supervisor and after getting the same runaround that I got, insists that he still be able to speak to someone else. After speaking to the supervisor for a little while she agrees to issue our tickets early, but not without pointing out that this was a big favor and we should be more careful next time. Thank you, I will never make that mistake again! So now all we have to do is go to Guest Relations at any of the parks and pick up our tickets. :woohoo: Crisis averted. Now that things have settled down my husband and I just shake our heads and wonder what’s in store for the rest of our trip. If you happened to have read last years trip report you’ll know what I mean. Basically, we can’t take a vacation without multiple things going wrong. At least we’ve always been able to laugh it off…

It is now around 9:00am and I haven’t slept or finished packing, so I send my husband back to bed and tell him he can deal with the kids later on and I get back to work. We still have a few errands to run before we are expected at my in-laws for dinner, and they live an hour away (my FIL will be the one driving us to the airport in the morning to help us out). I was so tired and unable to focus that I never did finish packing; we just gathered everything up and shoved it in a garbage bag to finish packing at my in-laws. We arrive for dinner about a half hour late (although it wasn't ready yet) and by the time we get finished packing and ready for the morning its 11:00pm and we pass out before our heads hit the pillow. After being awake for 30+ hours there was no “I’m too excited to sleep” for me!

Less than six hours later we’re up and getting ready to leave. Our flight leaves at 8:05 and we have a layover in St. Louis before finally arriving in Orlando around 2:30. Getting through security with an infant and a toddler, two car seats, two carry-ons and a double stroller was NOT fun! Other than that, we didn’t have too much trouble getting around- I carried the baby in a front carrier and we loaded his seat with everything else while my two year old rode up front, only occasionally being bonked in the head by something gone astray :teeth: . We got lucky and the plane wasn’t full so we were able to use the baby’s car seat which made things much easier. The kids were great on the plane, it was a short flight and we had no issues at all. We had a nice lunch at the airport in St. Louis and I had just enough time to feed the baby before we boarded the second plane where we were again able to use his car seat. This flight was longer so we all took a nap to be rested for our arrival- if all went well we would be going to Magic Kingdom for the last night of POTC before it closed for rehab. pirate: We arrive in Orlando as scheduled and my husband gets our luggage as I feed the baby again, then we head towards Alamo to pick up the car.

As we’re standing at the entrance to the Q***ksilver line a panicked look comes over hubby’s face. “I can’t find my wallet”. “Ha ha” I say, “very funny”- thinking he is mocking our vacation curse. Nope, he’s not. His wallet is gone and the car rental is in his name. I stand there with the kids and all of our luggage (NOT fun) while he goes and traces his steps to see if he can find it. After talking to Southwest we realize that it is gone and for now there is nothing we can do but keep calling around. The only saving grace in this situation is that I already had an issue with the car rental being in his name before leaving, and after many emails managed to get approval to put the car in my name when we arrived. They weren’t happy about it but we got the car (all that was left was a Buick Rendezvous- very nice and only $120 for the week!). It’s now about 5:00 and we are quite a bit behind schedule so we decide to leave the grocery stop for another day and head straight to OKW to check in.

We arrive at our first floor studio with a view of the fairway, take a moment to admire it and feed the baby, then rush off to Magic Kingdom.

By the time we get our tickets and get through the gate its 7:30, but we refuse to be bummed- tonight is an EMH night and we’re ready for POTC! We headed straight over to Adventureland, giddy with excitement, to get in line and about 5 or 10 minutes later we were breathing in our favorite WDW smell- the cool crisp scent of the waterfall. The baby was a bit fussy and DS was scared of all the noises and the dark so we missed most of that ride. I knew he would love it if he saw it again so we decided to get back in line while it was so short. We calmed the baby down and prepared DS a bit, making it into a silly ride and puling out the laser pointer (don’t worry, we kept it in our boat so as not to distract other riders) and he loved it. The laser pointer came in handy lots of times while waiting for rides and shows- I highly recommend it! Every time we walked into the store after the ride he walked straight to the sword barrels to look and play but wouldn’t let us buy him one.

The details are already foggy from here out but I think after that it was about 8:15 or 8:30 so we got our EMH bracelets and headed over to watch the SpectroMagic Parade (it was our first time). It was so jam packed over there that I don’t know where we ended up but we did manage to find a pretty good viewing spot. As we waited I fed the baby while DH and DS passed out glo sticks to some kids nearby, and we finished just in time. The parade started and DS got so excited to see the characters he recognized, calling out to them and waving hi. He really opened up on this trip- even the day before we left he wouldn’t talk to anyone and was always shy around other kids. That totally changed as soon as we got down there which was great to see. We all watched with wide eyes, oohing and aahing at everything we saw. When it was over we tried to make our way through the sea of people with a double stroller, and it was NOT easy. I’m proud to say that I managed not to run into anyone though. We finally made it through and decided that dinner might be a good idea sometime before midnight, so we headed to Pecos Bills and sat down to eat- I had a burger and fries, DH had the chicken wrap with carrots which he shared with DS, and we had the peanut butter mousse for dessert. It was good food but I didn't care for the dessert (DH and DS like it though).

I fed the baby yet again and we headed straight back to Pirates. At this point DS thought it was the only ride there and the CM’s knew us :lmao: . I broke down and just bought a sword for DS anyway because he always plays “shovel” (that’s what he calls swords :confused3 ) at home with anything he can find. By now Wishes had started and we watched for a couple minutes before DS decided he no longer liked fireworks.

The details are even sketchier from here but we went to Fantasyland and rode Pooh, Small World and Peter Pan. DS loved them all, and It’s a Small World is now on his bedtime song list  . When we were done it was pretty much closing time so we decided to slowly make our way out of the park, stopping in a couple of shops on the way. We got home around 1:30 or so and DH and I finally got to sleep a little after 2:30 after showering and getting ready for MGM in the morning. After calling everyone we could think of all day, still no word on DH’s wallet. I’ll end here for now and work on the rest as soon as I can, thanks for reading! I'll try to remember the details better too, but I blame it all on mommy brain! :thumbsup2

Part Two (pg 2 post 18)- The PhotoPass Stalker and I ride ToT all by myself! Our first full day is at MGM.

Great report so far! I can't wait for the rest, as I am dying to know what happened with the wallet. I know if that happened to my DH our vacation would be ruined for sure!! Good job not letting it ruin yours!

Great report so far. Your kids are so cute! I can understand how it feels to make a mistake. Everyone looks to me to be the planner and I feel so bad if things don't go perfectly.

we were there at mk too on the late night......the crowd was unbelievable trying to get out after the parade. We could not move an inch without someone stepping on us or pushing us over........
Glad that you had a great day and hope the wallet is found

Great report! I can't believe your run of bad luck! We almost lost my purse which had EVERYTHING in it on our trip in 2004 so I know that panicked feeling well! And good job on not running over anyone with the stroller. I guess I'll have to take the blame alone for all of the sore ankles that night then, huh? ;) Can't wait to read the rest! Oh, and your boys are cuties! :)

Great trip report, can't wait to hear more.

What I don't understand is I think we were there at the same time and DH said POTC was closed. He was pretty sure of it, but we didn't go check it out. Did we miss it the whole trip for no reason? My friends son really wanted to ride it and we told him it was closed.

Can't wait to hear more.

already looking forward to more!

and the wallet thing is a 'worst nightmare' for us. *shudder*

Glad you all like it, I always wonder about that!

Tasha- LOL about the stroller, I was so afraid that it would come back here and bite me that I was overly cautious :teeth: I love your new siggie pic!

DisneyPhd- Pirates closed May first for the entire month. We arrived April 30th and changed plans at the last minute so we could ride it.

I was wondering about that, since your trip report was April 30th. I looked it up and it closed on May 1st (we arived May 6th.)

We did overlap for a few days. Our friends stayed at Pop May 5, 6, and 7th. They said the food court there was insanly busy.

You know I never even saw the food court while we were there? I got a quick glance while in the gift shop to pick up some packages and that was it! Your friends were there the same days as us, but were gone all day at the parks. We did take a swim before leaving on the 7th though. That's all we saw of the resort- and our room was directly accross from the pool too. What a waste!

My friends felt Pop was a dispapointment after being at Vero Beach in a ocean view room, (the only other WDW resort they had ever stayed at was BC and WL so they had deluxe resorts in the past.

They only swam at Pop once, the other day they visisted us at SSR and swam with us (Pool hopping, don't tell the Dis police!) ;) :rotfl:

Enjoying your report! Really anxious to hear the outcome of your husb's wallet (in 1997 right before picking everyone up to head to airport, I left my clutch purse w/$1,000 cash, all airline tickets for 12 of us and vouchers for passes in the shopping cart - luckily an elderly couple found it and turned in to store manager. Only in that little tiny town would I have had such luck!)

Hope all turned out right and can't wait to read more (your children are SO adorable!)!!

Wow, that was lucky. I think that fortunately most people are honest. I'd have had a total meltdown if I'd lost that though!

Ryan840 - Whew! What a first day you had. As I was reading about the ticket problems and the lost wallet, I was so anxious for you. It sounds like you and your dh didn't let it get you down and you had a blast at the MK. :goodvibes

I can't wait to read more about your trip and I hope the wallet was found! :thumbsup2

Great report, I hope the wallet turned up!

Excellent report ~ Your boys are so cute.

Day Two
We woke up at 10:30 and casually got ready to go- the baby actually slept through the night which we never would have expected, especially since DS was an practically an old man before he did… I fed him while DH got himself ready, and then he took care of the boys while I got dressed. While packing I put everyone’s outfits in Ziploc bags and dated them, which made getting ready in the morning a breeze. Taking showers and packing for the parks at night also sped things up considerably and since we postponed our grocery stop and it was too late to get breakfast anywhere we decided we would just get lunch as soon as we got to MGM. While DH was getting ready he was also calling around about his wallet and he finally got somewhere! He lost his wallet on the plane in St. Louis and they were sending it to Orlando. party: We breathed a huge sigh of relief and called the airport to see what we would need to do to pick it up- they told us it wouldn’t take long and if we wanted to we could wait until our departure day to get it, which we did since there was no longer anything in it that we needed. PHEW!

We didn’t have a map of WDW yet and even though we followed the signs we managed to get misguided and ended up taking about 30 minutes to get there (and both DH and I are very good with directions, we pretty much never get lost). We actually found this to be the norm until we acquired a resort map and discovered that a lot of the signs are misleading (take you out of your way) or even missing (lots of times we found there was no sign telling you to turn when you were supposed to- we know because we were specifically looking once we had the map, just to see if we were nuts. By the time we got there, parked the car (of course we forgot to use the Diamond Parking Pass from AAA but we were close enough to walk to the front anyway), got the stroller set up and packed, got through security and actually entered the park it was probably around 12:45. The baby was now hungry again so we stopped in the Baby Care Center so I could feed him- it was nice and cool in there, but pretty small.

We made our way to Rosie’s All American Café and DH ordered while I found a shady spot to sit. While I waited for DH to bring the food I watched ToT and listened to the screams as the doors opened, wondering if I would work up the courage to go on it or not- :scared1: I hate those straight drops but I really wanted to see the rest of the ride because of all the reviews and last year we didn’t have time so I’ve been contemplating it ever since. DH finally arrived with the food about a half hour later- I had a burger and fries and DH shared his chicken fingers and fries with DS, and we had the chocolate cake for dessert. It was good, although nothing special. Since it had taken so long to get the food, and because after we ate I called CRO to change a couple of our reservations (I had come to another realization regarding my Pop stay and the timing of my reservations) it was already about 2:30 and we were anxious to get going.

The next Playhouse Disney show was at 3:00 so we worked our way over there, stopping in the Villains Shop along the way (DH bought a set of Nightmare before Christmas playing cards). By the time we got to Playhouse Disney there wasn’t much of a wait to go in, which was good because it was HOT! During our wait in line, a new DS emerged- a hyper little guy who was jumping everywhere and hanging on ropes… :hyper: He’s still here today. I will say that he is still very well behaved and mindful of other people, but he literally changed personalities overnight! We were happy to see him come out of his shell though, even if he does give us a run for the money. When we got inside we found a seat near the aisle and waited for the show to begin- it was sooo uncomfortable sitting there on the floor, packed in like sardines with nowhere to move, while holding a fussy baby and having a toddler climbing all over you! :crowded: It was worth it though just to see the kids reactions- DS always flips out for the bubbles. After the show let out the baby was making sure we knew how hungry he was so we found a shady bench outside the restrooms (they were behind the stroller parking I think) and I fed him.

When we were done we decided to visit the few shops that were nearby, and then see Voyage of the Little Mermaid so that that part of the park would be completed. We had never seen it before and weren’t sure if we wanted to but there was only an hour or so before the parade and we didn’t want to wander too far so we went for it and really enjoyed it. We had great seats (third row, center) and it was a nice, cool and comfortable place to take a break. I think this show is a must see for any age- the black light puppeteering is so cool.

It was around 4:30 or so when we left the theater and headed towards the Sorcerers Hat to find a spot to watch the parade, and we got a great spot right along the brass line which made my day because last year we barely caught it and didn’t have a very good view. DS met a friend and played with him while we waited, and I sat next to the cutest little girl who was “five already!” (We watched the video today and you can hear all the things she was saying- it’s so funny!) DS loved being so close to it all and we got lots of really good pictures and some good video too. We booked a Fantasmic package at Hollywood and Vine and our seating was at 5:50 so we headed over there after the parade.

On our way we saw a PhotoPass photographer in front of the lake so we stopped to have our picture taken. She was very friendly and commented on how much she loved the baby's Jack Skellington onsie and how you don’t see that too often around there because of all the princess stuff (this will come into play later). We were a little worried about what to do with the baby while we ate because we left his car seat in the car (it would have been way too hot and uncomfortable for him to be in it all day) so I mentioned it to the hostess when I checked in and they let us bring our stroller. We didn’t have to wait long and by the time we were seated the baby was hungry again. I fed him while DH and DS got their food, and then I went and got mine. The food and service were great, although it was a bit slow which was frustrating considering how late it was and how little we had done so far. I barely remember what we ate- it was a little bit of everything I’m sure (but I remember the desserts :teeth: - the Key Lime Tarts and Cheesecake- YUM!). As we were getting ready to leave I noticed that they had the electric ice cubes there, so I ordered a drink with one for DS (it was not included in the DP so it was supposed to be $6) and we ended up getting it for free because she accidentally put it on the same bill as our meals and the manager told her not to worry about it. We even got a free drink to take with us because we originally ordered a Lilo (like a Shirley Temple) for him, forgetting that he won’t drink pop. We never would have said anything about it since it was our fault but she insisted he try it before we left to make sure he liked it and when he didn’t she got him apple juice and put the drink in a to go cup for us, even adding more to fill it.

Now we only had about an hour before we had to check in for our Fantasmic seats so we got our EMH bracelets and looked at the times guide to plan the rest of the night. We had to miss a few things that we really wanted to see (and I completely forgot that I wanted to take DS to Al’s Toy Barn to meet the Toy Story characters, which is my only real regret :guilty: ) but we didn’t let it get to us. We decided to do the Backlot Tour and be done with that section of the park before Fantasmic. We were able to take the stroller with us until it was time to board the tram which was great because both boys were sleeping- they slept right through all the noise!

It was 7:50 when we got off the tram so we had to hurry over to check in for Fantasmic, which was disappointing because we would have liked to see all the things on display at the end of the tour. On the way we saw the photographer again (this time in front of the Sorcerer’s Hat) and she waved to us and told us she’d be here all night. We got there just in time and once we were through the gate we took our time walking back and unloading the stroller since we knew we’d be able to find a seat. By the time we sat down we had about 15 minutes left before the show which was perfect. I fed the baby and DH and DS handed out more glo sticks and right then the lights dimmed. We really like Fantasmic, we saw it last year too and DS enjoyed it then but was a little scared this time. He was so cute- sitting on my lap leaning into me as hard as he could and watching through covered eyes with his fingers just barely open. We told him not to worry, that Mickey would come and fix everything and when he did he thought it was the best thing ever! He told everyone he saw all about how scared he was until Mickey saved the day.

When it was over we followed the sea of people to our stroller and made our way to Muppet Vision 3-D, stopping for a PhotoPass picture in front of the hat. We didn’t get far when we saw “our” photographer again so we had her take a few more pics and she told us how she was showing everyone our photos because of the boy’s shirts. Before we left I decided to wear the baby to give him a change of scenery and we let DS walk to spend some energy. When we got to Muppet Vision we had our choice of seats and we sat pretty much right in the center. DS had a blast, laughing hysterically and grabbing at the air- we watched him more than the show!

It was about 10:30 when we got out and the baby was hungry again. We only had two more hours until the park closed and I wanted to do RnR and ToT (if I was brave enough) so I fed him as we walked to the other end of the park- on the way we saw our photographer again and laughed and waved at each other.

The wait time for RnR was about 20 minutes and was actually our longest wait of the trip so far. I finished feeding the baby and left the boys with DH while I stood in line. I had never been on it before and was expecting it to be a little more exciting from all the reviews I’ve heard, but I loved it anyway. As I exited the ride I decided that if I didn’t do ToT now I’d be kicking myself until we came back, so we headed over there.

As I approached the entrance I asked the CM’s how bad the drops were and they didn’t really say much to me which I found pretty rude, but oh well… There was a girl sitting down right next to them (that looked really familiar and I wondered if she was a certain DISer, but I didn’t ask) and she told me in extreme detail what to expect. She had just been on four times and she literally told me everything, from the décor to the video clip to the moment they take your picture. I laughed and thanked her, and went off to face my doom. I was literally the only person inside when I got there until a family of four came in with flushed faces, talking excitedly. They had just gotten off and this would be their third time in a row… Still hating the unexpected, I had them tell me about it too and then we went in for the pre-show where more people came in after us. When it was over the four of them cut right in front of me and ran to the loading station, leaving everyone behind in their dust. I didn’t care that I lost my place but I was getting sick of people cutting so obviously, not even caring who saw. (I forgot to mention the two ladies who just walked in front of everyone at RnR too.) This was actually the norm for us this trip- I don’t know how many times someone saw us with the stroller and decided it was ok to just walk right in front of us for bag checks or cut in front of us because there was more than three inches between us and the people in front of us… Anyway, I was in a row with two other single riders and none of us had been on before so we bonded together and had a great time. I missed most of the ride before the drops because I was too busy having a heart attack and wondering why I did this, and when the drops came I screamed so hard I partially lost my voice and my throat was throbbing for the rest of the night. As soon as I finished screaming the first time I blurted out “Oh my God I LOVE it” and started laughing and saying how proud I was of myself. The girl next to me was the same way and I think the guy we were with just thought we were nuts (but he liked it too). It was great, and the view of MGM when the doors opened was awesome. I totally would have done it again but the park was closed. I can’t wait to go back so I can actually see the rest of the ride…

We made our way to the front of the park and as we near the exit we hear someone call out “Would you stop following me already?” It was our photographer again, so I yelled back to her that she was the one following us with plans of kidnapping the baby for his cute clothes. She laughed and wished us a good night and we headed back to the car- somehow we always manage to be one of the last cars in the parking lot, so we never have to search for it.

I fed the baby again before leaving and we went back to the room. It was after 2:30 again by the time we got showered and into bed (we’re obviously all night owls). We had a great day but we were pretty surprised at how much longer it took with the two kids. Of course we knew it would take a while and I would be feeding the baby a lot and changing tons of diapers (both boys were in them still) but it really took a lot more time than we expected. I’ll work on part three as soon as I can, thanks for sticking around! Sorry for the lousy grammer, my brain is fried lately!

Part Three- Lost Wallet: The Sequel, Dinner at Chef Mickey’s, The Diaper Explosion, Expedition Everest and we ride in the front car of the monorail!

Oh my god. I was getting all into your story and it stopped. Please don't leave us waiting too long. How old is your youngest? I have a 10 week old who has been so fussy the last week that I'm afraid to go to MK any time soon. I'm really enjoying your report.
