Just wondering if we are getting closer to discounts coming out for the rest of the year? Looking at Mousesavers website, looks like the free dining for the end of October through December came out last year on July 6th. Here's hoping!!

I certainly hope so, I'm exhausted and frustrated from the wait! Starting to get grumpy! Hopefully only a week or so to go...... :rotfl:

Last year was the earliest it appears it was ever announced. They do seem to be doing everything a bit earlier this year.... so maybe they will repeat last years timing. Who knows, they might even announce dates into 2012.

But I haven't heard any solid rumors lately, except for their desire to wean people off discounts. They just did the big mailing of the "lottery" PINs... I wouldn't be surprised to have to wait a few weeks for any new public offers.

Hoping for the same thing here! We are DYING to do a surprise trip in October for our 5 year old daughter. She thinks that we won't go back to Disney World until we've gone to the beach. Little does she know that we are going to the BEACH at DISNEY WORLD! CBR here we come!!!

I wish they would release 2012 Free Dining dates again this year like they did last year. We booked 2011's trip in 2010 before we'd even left for our 2010 trip LOL I like doing it that way though...makes leaving Disney on our last day less sad because I know we'll be back and can start planning it when I get home.

Last summer people were posting that Disney was trying to wean off the discounts, but as you can see they didn't. They offered free dining for almost a year ahead and then gave more discounts. My friend went to Disney in May w/a 40% off. I'm sure something will come out soon.

They never said they were going to eliminate discounts. But clearly, they are reducing them. The current free dining promotion is less generous than past promotions (requirement to buy a photo book). The current round of PINs is giving good discounts, but only with full pre-payment.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that an offer will come out next week....hey, we can only hope, right? I'm checking here multiple times a day as well as Googling and checking the "special offers" on the WDW website. I've never received a PIN and don't expect to now...but it would be nice.

All business is based on supply and demand. If people are filling the place at rack rate their won't be strong discounts. If business isn't so good they will have promotions to try and fill it up. I won't pay rack rate, so if they want us to come and spend thousands of dollars in Dec. They will have to offer a good deal or we will spend our money elsewhere. If people keep making reservations at rack rate they have no reason to discount. Really simple business.

Completely true. Which is why I wish so many people wouldn't book now, thinking they will just apply discounts later, lol. Wait for the discounts!

So July 6th last year was a tuesday - that would mean we could *maybe* see something next Tuesday July 5th. Was the 6th last year a GP offer? Did they do a Disney Visa offer a couple of days prior? We are going Nov 19-28th, so the chances for us to get a discount over thanksgiving week are slim, but I am holding out hope that maybe there will be a free dining offer that goes until the 19th, or even 18th (we would go early if we could get FD). Honestly I would even be happy with a room discount for a couple of nights. Anything would make a difference.

I believe the initial offer was free dining, which we booked at CSR. Then a month or two later they came out with the discounted rooms option. Free dining is a great promo. The large room discounts do make the deluxe resorts tempting though, especially when they are in that 35%-40% range.

Do you think that factors into this new promotion of pay upfront, no refund offer? It sounds to me like they're getting a lot of cancellations, thereby making it hard to pinpoint the true numbers.

I'm sure there are a lot of people who book to make sure they get the resort they want and then cancel if there are no acceptable promos. Disney needs to understand that their rack rate is overpriced and there are other nice places to vacation for a lot cheaper. We are at the stage of our lives where we can afford to vacation where ever we want, but I won't grossly overpay for services, it's matter of principle. We love DW and it's our first choice if the deal is fair, but if not we will spend our money elsewhere.I have no problem with people making a living, but the deal needs to be fair.

I agree I wouldn't mind paying rack rate if the prices were reasonable. I think the deluxe resorts are least $100.00 a night too much. I wouldn't have a problem paying 350.00-400.00 a night to stay on the monorail. Disney should get a premium for those resorts. I don't expect to pay $200.00 a night, but don't think its worth the $500-600 their asking. Universal has realistic prices. Their rooms start between $200-300 a night. Why can't disney. Universals resorts are on par with disney deluxes if not better. I really hate the whole discount game. I just want to book at a fair price and not worry about waiting for a discount.

Yeah, we are on the same wavelength. We stayed 6 nights at the Hard Rock last Christmas after an 8 night Disney stay. We got a club level room for just over $300 a night. They deals for people booking early and staying longer. The HR is as nice as any DW resort if not nicer. The monorail resorts are great, but honestly for $600 a night you can stay in a lot more luxurious hotels. If they would just drop the rack rate 30% the place would already be 75% booked.
