Are we cutting it too close on departure day?

We'll be staying at BWV and scheduled an 11:00 AM ADR at Sci Fi Dine-In (gotta get one more ride on TSMM & Star Tours!). Now our flight home has been moved up to 3:50 PM (was 4:15). Is that cutting it too close to be seated, eat lunch and get back to BWV in time to claim luggage and catch DME? Should we plan on taking a taxi from HS to BWV instead of boat or walking?

I think you will have plenty of time to eat. You will be out of Sci-Fi by noon if your ADR is 11:00. Are you doing your rides before or after? As long as you allow an hour at the boat dock to get back to BWV you will be fine. Or you could even walk the path from HS to the Boardwalk. Prob a 15-20 min walk.

With a 3:50 flight, your bus will be around 12:30-1:00. I think it's cutting it close, you may not get out of Sci Fi until 12:00. You need to get to BWV and get your luggage and be ready 15 minutes before.

I also do not think you will make it. We have eaten at Sci-Fi and they are not always on time getting you to your table. Sometimes the service is slow. I would not want to take the chance of running late back to your ME bus. If you miss your bus, you may not be allowed on the next one. You need to be ready to get on the bus, luggage in hand 15 minutes before your departure time, which will be 3 hours before your flight.

Oops, sorry, my advice was wrong. I misread and was thinking your ME pick up time was 3:50. Your lunch will still be over around noon and your ME pick up time probably 12:45 so I would say as long as you walk back to BWV immediately after lunch you will be fine. It might be close but you will make it. The bus takes a few minutes to load up before departing so as long as you don't care about being the first family on the bus you will be okay. DH and I have cut it close a couple of times and it's always turned out ok.

If your departure time is 3:50, your DME p/u is going to be between 12:30-1:00. You may get a time of 4:10, but it's better to err on the side of earlier. So, figuring you have a p/u time of 12:45, you need to be back at BW to get your carryon bags out of storage no later than 12:20ish..it could take them 10 mins to do this. You should be at the DME bus stop at least 10-15 mins before the stated p/u time...this time is the time the bus is supposed to leave the resort, not the time you should amble on over to the stop!!!
So, if you need to be at BW by 12:15, you will have to be walking out of DHS by 11:50ish....it takes under 20 mins to walk. If there is a boat there, loading, then take the boat and get off at the S/D and walk over to BW. If there is no boat coming in, or in and loading, walk back.
This means you have to be done eating at Sci-Fi by 11:40. Doable, but way too many variables to count on.
I'm not really sure that taking a cab is going to make a huge difference. I guess it could save you 10 mins. But I have to tell you....if you're worried about saving a measly 10 mins, I wouldn't be keeping that ADR!!! Not a good way to end your vacation...worrying about missing your ride back to MCO.

We did not get seated at Sci Fi on time, it was just over 30 minutes late. If that happens and security lines are tremendous at MCO, if you even make the M E back it could be a disaster. Can't you do Sci Fi another time?

When our plane was scheduled to leave at 4:15 I thought we'd be ok although rushed. But now I see we do need to change our plans.
