Are we crazy?

We are just wrapping up a week long, no park trip at animal kingdom lodge. The kids have had a blast. They participated in all the cultural activities, used the pool, community hall. We went to a character meal, bowling, had lunch at beaches and cream, earl of sandwich, Wolfgang pucks. Watching the animals is great fun. We did the drum cafe one night.

Haven't missed the parks one bit. In fact we may prefer travelling this way and are planning to scale back our park time in the future.

So no I don't think you are crazy. I'd give animal kingdom lodge a try. Great theming and activities.

You are not crazy, go and have fun :thumbsup2

I read a trip report where a family went over the summer and stayed at Kidani and enjoyed resort activities, the pools, did a water park, Downtown Disney, Sea World, and resort hopped. They didn't visit any of the four main WDW parks. I also read a trip report a few years back where a family went on their first WDW trip (did all the main parks) over the 4th of July holiday, had four kids ages 2-6, stayed offsite and had an awesome trip! They did the Wishes Dessert party on July 3rd to see the MK fireworks and they visited Epcot on July 4th and also watched the fireworks show there.
