Has any pulled a 25 foot trailer from the Northeast to Orlando, We are thinking of taking a few weeks next summer to try it. Any thoughts or suggestions to make it doable.

The whole thing depends on what you are towing it with, your family (and their tolerance for car travel), your time table, time of year..... etc etc etc.

After having a pop up for a few years in the late 80's I hated it.
We bought a 27ft travel trailer in the fall of 03 and now I wouldnt travel any other way.
The convenience of having your own bed, food, toilet and a place to stop and rest at anytime are huge with my family when traveling on the road.
We are making our 3rd trip to Fort wilderness in 3 1/2 weeks. The trip is 1100+ from our house.

We are heading down from michigan the day dd gets out of school in June, The trailer will built beginning of April and we are planning 16 days at Fort Wilderness, and of course stops on the way and way back.

When we go in April, we will be pulling our 25 ft trailer 1250 miles. :( I'll let you know when we get back--IF I still have my sanity. ;)

It seems like it would be fun to hit the East Coast along the way, take 2 weeks to do the trip. We have a Ford F150 v8 so pulling is no problem. It can be very stressful to pull though as people cut you off all the time,

If you are comfortable pulling you trailer there should be no problem going to Disney.

I am leaving in the beginning of May pulling my 24' Sportsman to Fort Wilderness. I will be traveling only a little more than you since I live in New Hampshire.

I have taken this trailer from Virginia to Nova Scotia to the UP of Michigan and consider it the best way to travel

I will not take it thru NYC or Washington. I am going down I-84 to I-81 then somehow get back to I-95.

We pulled our 29' TT from Colorado to Disney in November :cool1: We would not have done it any other way! We also enjoyed many state parks and incredible sights between here and there. We were gone about 4 weeksa altogether (10 days at FW). Awesome!! :earsboy:

We aren't going until May 2006 but when we first started talking about it, my husband didn't even bat an eye at towing our 27' travel trailer the 1500 miles to FW. Have fun! :sunny: We are going for two weeks all together, 2 days down, 2 back, 8 nights at FW and 3 nights in the Florida Keys!

We've towed our 30ft TT to Disney from VT twice. It took about 28 hours each way. We love the campground and the kids did fine on the ride. We drove straight through switching drivers. We went for 2 weeks both trips. I don't think that it would be worth the drive if it were for less than 10 day. IMHO. We are only able to go for a week this October so we will be flying and staying offsite.

Not crazy at all, my family and two other families will be towing 30' 5th wheel trailers from ct to disney...I will let you know how it was

ok - so what i am towing is by no means as cumbersome as a 25 ft trailer, but we find towing our pop up from philly to orlando (@ 1000 miles) to be quite enjoyable.

before you tow anything that considerable distance i would take a local trip and get comfortable with towing it.

81 to 77 to 26 to 95 :-) We just did this by car last weekend - it was 18 hours from WDW to home (central NJ). We prefer this route to and from Florida, but we live off 78 in NJ, so we take 78 west to Harrisburg, PA to 81S. Just do a mapquest from Staunton, VA to Orlando, FL and you'll see the route.

Before kids, dh and I pulled his Dad's travel trailer from NY all the way out to the Pacific NW and back over 6 weeks. We've taken our 29' fiver from NJ to Yellowstone and back, and this summer are going to the Canadian Rockies. Next year's trip to FW should be a breeze, lol.

We haven't done this yet...we are on Long Island..and have been talking about it for years. We have a 27 foot trailer. Would hope to do it either this spring or summer. My husband just hasn't had the kind of time we'd like. WE have been waiting for two weeks...but it doesn't look like that will happen anytime soon. We are considering going with about 9 days total. My husband will be towing..as I don't like to drive with the trailer.

We took our 33' TT down in February '02. We will also be driving down when we go this April. Our first trip, we had myself and my DH, DD, DS, Grandpa and his gf. We have an F250 crew cab which very comfortably seats 6. This year we are taking my mother, so there will only be two of us in the front.

My husband has logged well over 2 million miles as a long distance truck driver (now only working locally), and has no problems with the drive. We take a straight shot down from NE Mass, 1300 or so miles, about 22 hours. We will leave on Thursday evening, stop just outside of NJ in a rest area or truck stop to sleep for the evening, then stop again Friday evening around Georgia, arriving at FW Saturday morning. We then spend 5 days before leaving Friday morning to come home. That will leave us all day Sunday to recuperate.

What will be nice about this trip is that hopefully in the next 5-6 weeks, the weather will warm up enough to put some water in the tanks so we can at least use the toilets and wash up in the bathrooms without having to use the rest areas when we get up in the mornings. When we went in Feb. '02 we had to leave the trailer winterized until we arrived in FL.

You can go down and go over the GW bridge without any problems if you time it right. Going around DC isn't a chore either. You can go around DC without adding any time to your trip.

What is nice with DH having travelled all over the country for 30+ years, is if we encounter traffic, he usually knows away to go around without getting lost or having to ask for directions  We all know how men hate to do that. Certainly mean no offense to the men. Just a little joke.
