Hi everyone-

From you veterans that have been to Disney last week of August 1st week of September are we crazy going then? It is the only time Grandma and Grandpa can go with us!

My kids will be 4 and 14 months. 2 years ago we went the end of Sept/beginning of October. How much hotter/humid is it Aug/Sept? I have been reading alot of posts that are scaring me.

Should we go a different time and leave the grandparents behind? We were hoping to get out a few nights w/out the kids -- plus my kids rarely get to see them so they would love it if they came!

Thanks for any input!

Barbara :yay:

Also would love to know this info! We're booked for Christmas, but that might not work with my DH's work. I looking at mid-August before the kids go back to school. I'm most interested in people's advice on August weather.
Thanks!

Hi, we went on our honeymoon last week of August/1st week of September. We loved it. The crowds were so light - on Rockin Roller Coaster we could have stayed on all day - no need for fastpass! Some rides we did indeed stay in our seat and ride again. The only downside was it was VERY HOT! We like the heat, but there were a couple of days where it was so hot at the park that we went back to the hotel and did some water stuff - hung out at the pool, rented the mouse ski things. Then we went back to the parks at night. It worked out great. It did rain a couple of times but it was real quick rain and the sun was shining again. Also we checked in on the first day of value season so that was helpful. This year we're going later because I want DD to be tall enough to hit the rides, but I'd go back in late Aug/early Sept again. Much better IMO than in February, March or April.

I live in South Florida so YES it will be HOT. All you have to do is drink lots of water. You want to make sure you dont get dehydrated. Make sure everyone wears sunscreen and maybe even a hat. Everytime I go to Disney I always see people burnt to a crisp. Start off early going to the parks if you can and then go back to the hotel during the afternoon to relax and get out of the heat. Then go back early in the evening. You can also get those portable fans that sprays a mist of water out. The Florida sun is HOT and as long as your prepared you will be fine. Have a GREAT trip!!

This is hilarious to me because we changed our plans from May To 1st week in September and the villa owner suggested pool heat for this time of year! Thanks, this post save me from having to post that question...

We've gone to Disney during all seasons of the year. The time you are going will most certainly be HOT :sunny: , of course unless global cooling happens. Definitely follow the advise of others especially since you are bringing an 14 mo and a 4 yr old. Drink plenty of water, a big help is getting a Brita sports bottle and keeping it filled at all times. You will save a huge amount of money on buying bottled water. You won't realize how quickly little ones get dehydrated. Try to go as early as you can in the day, wear hats, I also brought a cute Disney umbrella for my 4 year old, she loved it. Apply sunscreen throughout the day since it does wear out.
Most importantly, pay attention to your children's mood. If they are fussy and whiney take them some place cool. There are plenty of rides where you are in air-conditioning. You will be happier and so will they.

Have Fun!!

Thanks everyone for your responses.. I am feeling a little bit better. I know it will be hot and we will go prepared for that. Now another questions how are the crowds the last week of August and first week of September? How bad are they Labor day weekend.

Thanks again,
Barbara :yay:
