Are we canidates for DVC

Our family has gone to wdw for the last three years we've stayed both at deluxe and moderate (we like deluxe). I have notified the dvc and they have not contacted us yet.
Due to all of our schedules we can usually only have about 6 or 7 days once each year at wdw. Our children are 10 & 13. My dw and I will probably like to go even when our children may not want to in the future.
Could someone explain breifly what dvc will or will not gain us?
The children really like the bc and dw and I like the gf. Should we wait for the villas at the bc and can we use points at the gf?
Any info that will help me ask the right questions of the dvc will help. Thanks

If you like the deluxe resorts and go to WDW at least every two years, DVC may be for you!

I like to think of DVC as a pre-paid vacation plan, where you are paying for your room in advance. This protects you from the raising cost of rooms.

One of the best features of DVC is the flexibity of vacationing when you want, where you want, and in the size room you need.

I recommend reading the DVC FAQ, get the DVC materials from Disney, reading the posts on this board, and asking lots of questions. I know it really helped me.

I would also recommend purchasing where you want to stay the most. If you plan on visiting WDW often, purchase at WDW. Other options include Hilton Head and Vero Beach. At the present time the only DVC site that Disney can sell is the Villas at Wilderness Lodge, but there is a resell market that you could also use to purchase at Old Key West or Boardwalk Villas.

If you think you will be going to WDW, staying on the DVC properties, or vacationing at one of the 2 offsite DVC resorts, at least every other year for the next 8 years, then you will at least break even on your cost of buying into DVC, compared to renting resort rooms. And after that, your costs of annual vacations willl be significantly lower than if you had not bought in.

Vacationing on-site at WDW in moderates was the reason we joined in the first place. We wanted to be on site all the time, but were spending WAY too much for that luxury. Once we stayed in a deluxe, there was no turning back. We then booked an OKW stay to check out DVC. We like that even better than our deluxe stay (which was at WL), so we purchased there and have not regretted it for a minute! We felt we had a return much sooner than eight years, but I am sure that varies on each indivduals spending habits.

Your WDW vacation frequency and hotel use seem to suggest that you would enjoy becoming DVC members. However, don't buy it if you plan to use it recurrently outside the DVC properties. The use of points to stay at the GF is quite high, not a good value, IMHO. For BCV, you'd probably like it a lot. If you expect to stay there the most often (of the DVC properties), then wait to buy there, as your home resort, if you go with DVC.

If you're considering DVC, ask someone here who's done it about the resales. I have never tried it, (didn't know about the resale sites when I added on) but some here would have experiences that they would probably be very willing to share with you.
