Are VGT cabins assigned based on Castaway status?

There is a discussion in my current FB cruise group about how IGT/OGT/VGT cabins are assigned. Some people think they are assigned based on castaway status, after occupancy. I had never really given this much thought.

But, it does seem to be what has happened in our case. We sail VGT a lot. When we were gold, we were always assigned Cat 5 verandah cabins. Now that we are platinum, we have only been assigned the huge family Cat 4 verandah cabins. Always a party of 2. Has this been the case for others? Better cabins assigned the higher your castaway status climbs?

Guess we will see if our Cat 4 streak continues for our upcoming Christmas cruise.

Nope. We've been assigned anywhere from a category 9 to a 4 when we've done *GT. At all CC levels (Silver, Gold, and Platinum).

As Platinum, I’ve been assigned 11C (twice), 10B (upgraded at port to a 9C!), 10A, and an 8A. (All IGT except the last one.)

The 10B upgraded one I had two rooms, the other room was Silver. All the others were solo cruises.

I don’t think it has anything to do with it, I think it’s totally random.

We were assigned a 10a with our IGT booking for our first cruise.

There is a long thread where people post there *GT assignments and all kind of info as to CC status, time booked etc. There appears to be no rhyme or reason as to who gets what with the exception that DCL does try to keep parties with multiple rooms together.

Not in my opinion, we purchased a VGT in June for a September Dream cruise and we are pearl, received the worst area you can on the Dream, the Back of the ship. As many know the back of the Dream and Fantasy rumble like you're in a dentist chair getting a root canal.
Luckliy, we were able to upgrade to a mid-ship stateroom on deck 9 at the port for $250.
