Are Uggs Worth the Price?

I loved my Uggs but I will say that the inside bottom wore out after one winter of use. The Shearling lining is wore down to the base of the shoe so it is not comfortable to wear without socks which is what I do all the time with them.

I wish I had bought the kind that had the removeable sole so that I could replace it with the ones they sell. If you get that kind I would say they are definitely worth it!

I don't have the removeable sole kind but I just put the new replacement insole right over what was already there. Worked like a charm!

Last year this time I owned zero uggs, I now have over ten pairs and two more on the way. I bought all of them on sale and some were more that half off. I have tall ones, short ones and even shoes. I do have to say though for comfort and support I have better boots, but for all around for comfort, and warmest I just love them.

I'm trying to understand all this Uggs talk especially for a 9 year old. We walk to/from school in all weather including some icey and/or slushie weather as well as lots of snow. I live in a steep hill so need decent traction as well plus warm. If I spend this much money for one winter (feet still growing) I want to make sure she can use them for playing in the snow, sledding, making snowmen etc. Can they be saved for dd5 to grow into or do they mold to your feet?

They are not really made for snow play, so I say no, even with waterproofing. They are "walking around" shoes only.

I Love My Uggs.
I've had my lime green pair for 3 years and they look like really nice.
Also a black pair and a taupe pair.

I wear a soze 8 1/2 . i've tried the Kohl's and Tsrget brands where the 8's were a little big. Yet my toe was pushing on the tip in 7's that they were too tight.

What size should I buy in UGGS? I'm afraid the 8's will get bigger over time. :confused3

I bought the Kirkland (Costco) brand over the weekend for $35. Wore them to work today and a friend at work, who has multiple Uggs, couldn't believe how similar they were. She tried them on, examined the stitching, etc and said they are the same boot. They are the same materials as Uggs. She's going to Costco this week to buy several pairs, and she's quite the brand snob ;)

Totally agree. They are the same. I'd bet anything they are made by the same place in China. :)

They are very comfortable, look great, wear great. And, the price is less than the Bearpaws I bought several years ago. Heck, at the price I paid, I wouldn't care if they lasted only one season! Plus, for the price, I can have several colors!

I bought a pair intending to do the same thing but that hard plastic bottom raises my foot up too much and then my toes hit the plastic and it's just not comfy. :(

I will add that today it was in the 30s and I wore my cheap knock-offs from Target and my feet are freezing. I wore my Uggs all winter without socks and never had a problem. Buy the real thing.

I love my UGGs too, I wear them everyday. I have never owned any of the similiar styles, but dd had Bearpaws last year. I will never buy those again, they were falling apart before the end of the season. She wanted UGGs this year but I'm not willing to spend that kind of money on shoes for her yet so I got her a cute pair of UGG style boots with peace signs embroidered on them, she loves them. I don't expect them to last like UGGs but they were only $20, even less than her Bearpaws.

I got a pair of Cole Haan boots for roughly the same price as Uggs, and they are infinitely better. I ordered mine for Gilt Groupe, but every once in a while you can find them at Marshall's. I think a lot of what you're paying for with Uggs is the name. That said, my fiancee vehemently disagrees, and she loves her Uggs.

I am a big fan of Cole Hann....I pay a lot of $$ for them, and I know that they are worth every penny. Where are you getting them at such a great price? Please share!!!

Also, my daughter has had various brands of fake uggs...they never last long. The real ones are on her x-mas list this year. Sometimes, you get what you pay for.

I was thinking of getting a pair of Uggs but wonder if they are really worth the $$$. I would hate to spend that much money and not like them. Should I just buy a knock off look-a-like pair? I saw a pair of these at a shoe store here...I think they were called "Bearclaws".

Any opinions?

Thanks!

I believe that they are made by the same company.

I agree with your fiance, Figment...love my Uggs! Totally worth it. I have been wearing and abusing them for years and they are still in perfect shape.

ditto. Love 'em! So comfy and warm. I just wore them for a 3 hr trip to the mall and my feet feel great. They were perhaps a bit too warm :), but great for outdoor wear.

Love my Uggs. Totally worth the price. I have a chestnut pair and I'll be getting a black pair for my birthday, on Friday. ;)

My mom bought DD (6) a pair of chestnuts to match moms last year. She wore them alot and they are still in excellent condition. She didn't wear them in the snow though. Just back and forth to school and stuff like that. She just got a pink pair for her birthday. She hasn't worn them yet, but they are so cute.

Uggs are worth the money-after a couple years of wear you will see the difference in the boot that you paid more for. I got my first pari about 4 years ago and wore them bare for those 4 years. People I know who got cheaper ones, you could really tell after a bit of wear they were falling apart. They slouched more and the side of the boots get saggy and don't hold up.

However, if you won't wear them much or they are for a little kid go for the cheaper ones!

My daughter had Bear Claws last year.....they were trashed by spring....she has Uggs now and loves them. I have a friend that has had hers for like 5 years. I think the price is high because of the great quality.
My daughter also had BearPaws last year that were trashed before spring. Of course, she wore them EVERY SINGLE DAY. She now has Uggs and so do I. We just got them last month so I don't know how they will hold up, but my Ultimate Shorts are really comfy.

I think if you are either hard on your boots/shoes or if you want to wear your boots for more than one season, then Uggs (or other high quality boots like Emus or Koolaburras) are the way to go. If you just want the "fashion" aspect of Uggs then the Bear Paws or even the Target brand are perfectly fine. They will last you the season and the Bear Paws do have real warm sheepskin lining. The reason I went with Uggs is because the Koolaburras and the Emu "Stinger" (with sheepskin, not wool like the "Bronte") were almost as expensive as the Uggs.

I love my UGGs. I also have a knock off pair and there really is a big difference in the comfort and durability of them.
