Are Uggs Worth the Price?

I was thinking of getting a pair of Uggs but wonder if they are really worth the $$$. I would hate to spend that much money and not like them. Should I just buy a knock off look-a-like pair? I saw a pair of these at a shoe store here...I think they were called "Bearclaws".

Any opinions?

Thanks!

I got a pair of Cole Haan boots for roughly the same price as Uggs, and they are infinitely better. I ordered mine for Gilt Groupe, but every once in a while you can find them at Marshall's. I think a lot of what you're paying for with Uggs is the name. That said, my fiancee vehemently disagrees, and she loves her Uggs.

I agree with your fiance, Figment...love my Uggs! Totally worth it. I have been wearing and abusing them for years and they are still in perfect shape.

My daughter had Bear Claws last year.....they were trashed by spring....she has Uggs now and loves them. I have a friend that has had hers for like 5 years. I think the price is high because of the great quality.

I bought the Kirkland (Costco) brand over the weekend for $35. Wore them to work today and a friend at work, who has multiple Uggs, couldn't believe how similar they were. She tried them on, examined the stitching, etc and said they are the same boot. They are the same materials as Uggs. She's going to Costco this week to buy several pairs, and she's quite the brand snob ;)

I love my Uggs! They are 100% worth the money. I have had them for a few years and they are still in great condition. Every year or every other year I buy the replacement insoles. They run about $15. My kind of Uggs technically isn't made for this but it works fine. It makes them seem brand new again.

I bought a pair of knockoffs at Sam's club for $33 and have been wearing them for the past month. Love 'em. So warm! My dd5 has some Emu's and they are nice, but they are lined with Merino wool and it is a bit thinner. She complains they are too hot. LOL, I'm sure she'll appreciate them when it's below zero this winter!

Absolutely hated my Uggs. I bought the real thing hoping they would take me through a rough Michigan winter... not even close. The seam came apart at the heel and they soaked through every single time I wore them. One night I got frostbite. This was after I had waterproofed them not once, but twice! Very disappointing. Last Xmas I asked for Merrells boots, and while they are comparable in price, they have yet to soak throw or rip. :thumbsup2

Love, love, love my Uggs! They are so worth the price. I have two pairs of shorts and one tall and I wear them almost everyday in the Fall and Winter. We bought them for my daughter last year and she loves them too. She asked for another pair this year.
:thumbsup2

I bought my dd Bearclaws last year when she was 10. My experience was the same as a previous poster. They were trashed by spring. But this was a 10 yo who wore them everyday and is very rough on her stuff. Her feet are also still growing so even if I had bought Uggs its unlikely they would fit more than one year.

I still didn't want to spend the big bucks this year so this year I bought her Emus for less than hald the price. They seem better quality than the Bearclaws but its still too soon to see how they will hold up. The total price I paid for both the Bearclaws and the Emus is less than I would have paid to buy 1 pair of Uggs.

Completely off the wall but I have an Ed Hardy variation of Uggs. I have knee highs with the geisha girl and the swallow biker style. Yeah I paid through the nose but they are warm. They have a good grip on the ground even when up in colder climates like Philly. I have never owned a pair of real uggs but with twin 9 month olds its kind of hard to afford. I can not bring myself to do it with the Ed Hardys already in my closet. Good luck in your adventure to decide. I think it depends on how nice they are when you try them on.

One very important point is when you try them on make sure the soles will work on icy concrete. I had a pair of rip offs send me flying on ice up north a few winters ago.

I LOVE my Uggs. I have two pairs. I bought one pair from Victoria Secret's website (back when you could use their coupon codes for a discount on Uggs) and one pair used off of Ebay for $90 (the tall boots). I've been wearing them both for about 5 years and they have no stains, tears, rips, etc. They keep my feet so warm (I wore them to a Steelers/Bengals game in Cincy a couple of years ago when it was 20 degrees and snowing for hours and my feet were sooooo warm and dry). I haven't bought any brand but Uggs but only because in 5 years I haven't found a need to.

Another vote for Kirkland. I love them and I can't believe they were only $35!!! They're VERY comparable to the Uggs I bought last winter.

I love my Ugg boots. I got them two years ago for Christmas and they are still in great shape. They keep my feet so toasty warm, too warm sometimes. I can't wear them in wet, slushy type winter weather because they get too wet. I wouldn't mind trying a cheaper brand if they will keep my bare feet warm! That's the key for me, not just the name.

I loved my Uggs but I will say that the inside bottom wore out after one winter of use. The Shearling lining is wore down to the base of the shoe so it is not comfortable to wear without socks which is what I do all the time with them.

I wish I had bought the kind that had the removeable sole so that I could replace it with the ones they sell. If you get that kind I would say they are definitely worth it!

I have bought a pair of the cheap ones at Target ($20) and while they aren't as thick as the UGGs with their lining they have been keeping my feet plenty warm. I'll let you know once there is snow on the ground. The footbed isn't as comfortable but I think that's because the shearling isn't as thick.

I love my uggs! I used to live in CO in a ski resort where it snowed 9 months out of the year and this where the only boots that keep my feet warm. I have low blood pressure so I am always cold. I buy a pair of uggs before winter starts every year and I've never been disappointed. In a few days I will go get a replacement for my classic tall boots that my sister took.

love love love mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wear them anytime i can!!!!! worth it totally!!!!!!!!:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes
