Are Turkeys on sale in your area?

In my area the local stores are responding to Walmart by doing the same thing they are doing. Just putting that they will honor anyone elses advertised prices on turkeys just bring in the circular...with them all doing that no one has to honor the others prices and you pay what you pay!

we'll just have to do a whole chicken or possibly a small bone-in ham. Oh, well, sometimes you just have to make due! :upsidedow

Or just get a smaller turkey. Ham would likely cost more here than turkey.

It's not the price of the turkey that's the problem, it's that a turkey purchase requires an additional $50 purchase to get the sale price. I can't spend $50 at Safeway. They don't have many of the items I typically buy, and what they do have is always much more expensive.

Ham is more expensive, but I can buy a smaller ham on sale with no additional purchase needed.

You should be able to purchase the turkey for a bit more per pound without meeting the qualifying minimum purchase.

I just went yesterday and bought the Butterball at Target for .99/lb and used my red card, it was better then Aldi's price at $1.19/lb. Target does have their store brand for I think .79/lb I just love Butterball.

Wow, being a Shoprite shopper has spoiled me. Spend $400 between 10/20 and 11/28 and get a free turkey. I haven't paid for a turkey in years. :confused3

"Spend the required amount to get a Free Turkey, Ham, Turkey Breast, Kosher Chicken, Lasagna or Tofurky. Or, you can get the equivalent savings per lb. toward the purchase of any other whole turkey, turkey breast, ham or Tur-duc-hen."

Taken from the Shoprite website.

Safeway has their store brand turkey for .69/lb with an additional $50 purchase, and Butterball turkey for $1.28/lb with an additonal $50 purchase. It's not in my budget to spend $50 in one transaction (which excludes the turkey itself) at Safeway so we won't be having a turkey this year unless family members invite us over (we always bring one or two side dishes to contribute). We looooove both white and dark turkey meat and have always made a huge one for leftovers to freeze but this year we'll just have to do a whole chicken or possibly a small bone-in ham. Oh, well, sometimes you just have to make due! :upsidedow Actually, I do have a turkey in the chest freezer from 3 or 4 years ago...in it's original wrapping...I wonder if it's okay to cook. I assumed it would be freezer burned but just hadn't tossed it yet. Hmm.

The still tasty website says one year for best quality, but "Freezer time shown is for best quality only foods kept constantly frozen at 0° F will keep safe indefinitely."

My Food Lion ad that starts tomorrow has turkeys for either .49 or .47 (I can't remember exactly) if you spend a certain amount that is around $40. Sorry I'm not more specific, I don't have it in front of me anymore. They also had a promotion where you spent $40 a week for 6 weeks then get a $20 coupon, but if you haven't been doing that it's too late now, it ends 11/26.

It seems each year it gets later and later. I have not been to Wegmans yet.

Target here has store brand for .69 cents and there is an additional Cartwheel.

I havn't seen any yet but my local departmental store salesman said that in next week this will be available. So i think i have to wait till then.

Bj's has a coupon that gets you a free turkey if you buy 5 out of 7 or 8 select items. I spent around $30 and got mine, only 12lbs but free. I will be going again today.

Finally got to Wegmans. Here they are .48 cents a pound with a $25 purchase. Bought a big one for the freezer still want to buy a Butterball from Target.

I don't understand why turkeys aren't on sale in our grocery store circulars yet, are they in your area?

Just an FYI, I was reading a lot of articles about fresh turkey's being in low supply this year. Seems they are not gaining weight as expected and making it harder to get a fresh one.

Maybe this is keeping the frozen supply prices up since they may be expecting demand to be higher? Just a thought.

They were not on sale around here last week when I was shopping. I'll be checking again this week.

Publix has their turkeys for 59 cent lb this week. We got one last year for 69 cent lb and it was delicious!
We also used a $10 turkey gift certificate my dad got from one of our local dealerships and a $5 of $30 Winn Dixie coupon. We got a 27lb turkey for less than $2 :thumbsup2

They're 49c/lb at Shaw's this weekend.

But I have to admit DH's company still does the old fashioned buy every employee a fresh turkey for Thanksgiving. Klucking on Tuesday in the fridge on Wednesday. It's amazingly good :cheer2:

I also did the 6 out of 8 weeks for a 20.00 coupon at Food Lion. Then, the ad was .47lb if you spend $35. In the end I got the turkey and several canned items that I needed and paid a little less than 20. They also had coke products 4/10 with a 2.00 coupon so 8 bucks was 4 12 packs of soda.

We are having Thanksgiving today since my children are going to see their dad this year or going to their in laws. I was sweating paying too much for a turkey!
