Any of the western cruisers who know what the DCL excursions are like for Tulum or XCaret, please share info. I know it's going to be hot, so you can leave that part out.
We really wanted to see the ruins, but after reading posts about the time it takes to travel, and the lack of snacks/refreshments, we've been thinking otherwise. Please help with your input so we can make our final decision for booking an excursion in Cozumel. Is it worth it??

We did Xcaret a while back when we were on RCCL, and we LOVED it. My favorite was floating on the underground rivers, which are like natural "lazy rivers." There are also animals to see, a gorgeous butterfly garden, a ruin site, nature trails, and more. Optional activities include dolphin swims and horseback riding. The one odd thing is that you cannot wear regular sunscreen there (for ecological reasons). They will provide you with non-toxic sunscreen. I was a little worried because I burn VERY easily, but it worked great!! I lobbied to go there on our 5/25 cruise, but hubby talked me into the Jeep Safari (which was a BLAST...I highly recommend that one too). The only negatives about Xcaret was that there was too little time to do it all, and I got quite sick (if you know what I mean) from drinking something delicious called "rice water."

also keep in mind that there is quite a bit of travel time, and you would not get to spend as much time there as you will be getting to and from...

MtDewbuzz,

I did the Xcaret excursion on my 5/11 cruise. It really is a beautiful park, but I wouldn't recommend the Disney excursion. They DO NOT give you enough time there to see everything and it ends up being rather expensive. I do not regret picking the excursion because it was beautiful, but in my opinion it was not worth the almost 300 for the 3 of us and the time it took to get there. Make your own choice.

Check out www.xcaretcancun.com for some pictures of this park. Make sure you get to the Aquarium if you go and let me know how it was. We didn't have time to get to the Aquarium.
