Are ticket prices increasing this month? Last year it was 2/22....

Universal charges full price for all tickets unless you buy a dated ticket for a discounted day. The date specific tickets can't be used on any other day.

That is interesting - I thought tier pricing would work in the opposite direction - you have your regular ticket but to come during busier times you have to buy a special priced ticket, that way they can control entry for those dates. I guess at this point it's all mere speculation, although the Universal model already being in place makes it interesting to see if they will follow - should be interesting to try to figure it out when and if it's introduced!

I imagine that when StarWarsLand (one word?) the prices will be toooooooo expensive for me. :( And that area will be crazy crowded like it was for the Season of the Force event. :(

Hopefully not. One shouldn't have to spend a small fortune on a visit unless they choose to. My trips are always tight butt budget. Lol But I always have a good time. No reason not to. But it sure would be nice if the cost would stop going up, what seems to be all too frequently.
I received a email for a Disneyland survey. It asked many questions about annual passes, cost, and about renewing your AP.
I don't plan on renewing mine at this time, because I don't live that close to the parks. And if I do, I will wait until I know better when I will be able to visit again.
I hope that you will be able to visit soon, and that whatever the expense may be to do so when SWL opens, it will not be cost prohibitive to do so.
In the end my advice is to not worry about it. Things will work out just fine.

Rumblings like this are why we went ahead and booked our package as soon as SW opened up their schedule through the fall. Wanted to get air booked first to ensure we had enough miles for the days we wanted to fly. I had been playing around with packages for months and knew that ticket prices went up 2/22 last year. SW opened their schedule on 2/18 so I had everything in place by the next day. The thought of a tiered system frightens me. But I know we are set for October and I can sleep at night!

I had to do the same with SW. Now all I'm waiting for is one more Disney gift card to come in the mail to buy our park tickets..it needs to hurry!

Is the gift card for a great amount of money? Unless it is, I would go ahead and order tickets now, making up the difference perhaps with a rewards credit card. You will still have a use for the gift card in the parks, right? I mean, this is Disney after all!

(Hope this doesn’t sound like I’m telling you what to do with your money. Though I guess that is the way it reads, huh? Just a ‘serving suggestion’.)

I bought our tickets for our spring break trip as soon as price increase rumors started floating around. Since they're good through the end of the year, we'd still be likely to use them even if plans change...Last year we got caught by surprise after the price increase. Wish they'd give us poor Disney geeks a break for a couple of years, but I guess they have to pay for Star Wars Land now!

I say get your tickets now to save a few bucks!

When prices increased last year, how much of an increase are we talking?

The problem is no one knows. It might not be a simple % increase as was the case last year. This is because the annual passes changed significantly in the fall. The premium annual pass which allowed users 365 day access to the park for $779 was discontinued and now the cost for a pass with no black out dates is $1049, so a $270 or 34% increase. The deluxe pass on the other hand, which has many weekends throughout the year and the two weeks around Christmas blocked, only increased about 10%. Additional passes in between these two were introduced with a price point reflecting the # of black out days, and they also added in Photo Pass plus for the higher tiered passes.

That is why some people are watching more closely this year as Disney may introduce a change to their ticket price structure, effectively charging more to visit the parks during busier times of the year, on top of perhaps an additional increase.

Hm, so like Universal is doing now then. I can see why everyone is anxious to get tickets ASAP. Thanks for the response!

FWIW a mod on the wdw section said they're hearing Disney will raise prices Sunday and it will be a tiered/dynamic pricing system. (Obviously it's just a rumor until it happens and I don't remember if DL raises at the same time or not.)

Any chance prices actually come down the 1st week of May? :genie:

Is there any rumor on APs? I am considering upgrading my tickets to APs when I go in September, but that's contingent on them not going crazy between now and then. Otherwise I'll just stick with the hoppers I already have.

Sorry, only tickets referencing WDW were mentioned.

Personally, if I was holding park hopper tickets and not 100% sure about upgrading to APs at this moment in time I wouldn't do it. If the price goes up and I end up returning to the parks later in the year c'est la vie, but I would be really upset if I paid to upgrade the tickets and then never used them. Best of luck with your decision!

That's my impression, too. I can't imagine Disney ever lowering ticket prices!

Exactly. Because it is a for profit corporation. Forget the fact the DL is becoming more and more crowded overall. Forget about all of the changes that people do not like and do not agree with.

I was planning to upgrade a ticket to an AP in June, but the price on the Disney website is $749 plus tax with no black out dates. Am I reading something wrong? If it's $1049 then I'm not doing that!

Here is what I see on their site - I see nothing for $749.

Are you looking at WDW vs. DLR?
