I heard rumors that ppl actually protested against the nightmare before christmas version of the haunted mansion at DLR, but it was still nightmare before christmas when I went last. so what's the deal?:confused3 any info at all is helpful! I know it's only for halloween and christmas but that's the time of year I go so plz give any info you have

Nightmare before Christmas is considered to be Disney. I personally like the Haunted Mansion when it is turned into the Nightmare Before Christmas Haunted Mansion.

Well actually the film was released by Buena Vista and/or Touchstone Pictures (both owned by Disney) depending on which country in which you live.

Jeffrey Katzenberg was a producer on the project before he left Disney for Dreamworks.

It isn't a Disney BRANDED film, but Disney does have a hand in it.

well the main reason I wanted them to stop doing it is bc I have never seen the mansion in the original version but I only get to go once a year in november so it's always nightmare before christmas no offense to ppl who enjoy it with nightmare before christmas

I agree with both sides, obviously it has something to do with disney, and some people enjoy it being that way, but I live near the parks and am an AP so I go quite frequently and personally I think that the original version is much better, duting that time of the year I try to stay away from that ride due to the lines the "re-themeing" causes, but I guess it makes other attractions shorter... so i cant complain...

I hope they don't chnage it!
I remeber not liking the movie AT ALL, but last year I rode HMH like a billion times, I was so impressed by it. I figured since I liked the ride so much I must not have benn remembering the movie correctly, so I went out a bought it.
And it still was a REALLY BORING movie!
I think it's a really neat switch, and along with the it's a small world Christmas version really breathes new life into some rather static attractions.
Plus I wish they would make it HMH at WDW, I guess it's nice to have something completely unique for DL when the two MKs already have so many things alike.

that's kind of funny you said that because most ppl I know that are into the whole nightmare before christmas thing are the total opposite

If you don't like it then you should consider going at a different time of year. I think it is a bit extreme to think they should stop having it because you have never seen it in its original form :confused3 I like the overlay and wish they would bring it to WDW.

you have a good point there but I don't live near DLR so it's a big deal to go when I do and I go then bc it's for my bday once again sorry if I offened anyone

I was actually more curious if they were gonna change it bc I had heard that rumor about them maybe stopping it not trying to make it sound like I think they should change just bc I haven't seen it in it's original form bc I know alot of ppl like it that way

I'll be in MK in October...I think I'm glad that the HM will be the normal one, at least for Halloween! I saw the Nightmare version at DL last year and wasn't that impressed. I guess I'm a traditionalist, so I like the normal version! I suppose the best of both worlds is for it to remain a seasonal version.

I love the Nightmare before Christmas overlay at the Haunted Mansion. It is part of the holiday spirit.
DLR has a different 'feel' than WDW and this is part of its charm. I haven't heard of them discontinuing it, and I haven't heard of any protests either.

To see the attraction in its original state, you may have to plan a vacation at a different time of the year.

You didn't offend me :goodvibes I haven't heard of them changing it anytime soon. I think Disney will do what the majority wants, and if the majority like it then it will stay.

It is VERY popular at DLR and I have never heard of a protest either. The lines for HM when HMH go up are crazy!

but I mean it's not even a disney movie why did they even have it in the first place?
Originally, TNBC was going to be released under the Walt Disney Pictures banner -- but when Eisner saw the finished film, he felt it was too "un-Disney-like" and the company began to slowly divorce itself from the film. As a result, the decision was made to release it as a Touchstone Pictures film (Disney owns Touchstone Pictures).

If you have a copy of TNBC on DVD, you can see the original theatrical teaser trailer which hailed it as a breakthrough in Animation and Disney's newest animated classic.

One of the reason WDW never gets the Haunted Mansion Holiday, is because 90% of the visitors are first timers, and won't be back for a decade. The reason they do it at DL, is because most of the visitors are Annual Passholders or go alot, so Disney can do these seasonal changes to their rides.
