Are they ever gonna stop doing the nightmare before christmas haunted mansion?

One of the reason WDW never gets the Haunted Mansion Holiday, is because 90% of the visitors are first timers, and won't be back for a decade. The reason they do it at DL, is because most of the visitors are Annual Passholders or go alot, so Disney can do these seasonal changes to their rides.
A bigger reason is that WDW's HM had not been getting the same technological upgrades as DL's, and didn't have the capability to host the HMH.

Once the current refurbishment is complete, WDW will be able to host the HMH -- but as of right now, there are no plans to do so, for the reasons stated above.

AND DLR built and stores all of it's scenes and props for Haunted Mansion Holiday. In order for WDW to replicate this, they would have to build their own sets and props. I heard through a CM that they wanted to 'borrow' Disneyland's, but they were told NO. They are however now doing the "Small World" overlay. Or if they're not, they are getting ready to. Florida designers have been to DLR the past few years to set up and take down with the Disneyland CM's for Small World. For all I know, (which isn't much) they've also helped with HM Holiday.

I actually prefer the NBC overlay to the original and hope they don't plan to discontinue it. I look forward to the change every year. As someone mentioned previously, that whole area of the park becomes more lively.

I find this a little hard to believe -- mainly because, as mentioned earlier, WDW's HM just didn't have the technological capability to host HMH. I do know that the Imagineers did study WDW's HM extensively for the HMH, and the overlay was, in fact, built -- and promptly shipped off to Tokyo Disneyland (their HM is a carbon-copy of WDW's, but has the technological upgrades of DLs). That may have been the basis for the rumor you heard.

WDW seems to be moving away from doing any seasonal ride overlays -- witness the removal of the Country Bear Christmas Show.

Can anyone tell me when they will have the HM done up in the NBC theme??? We are heading to DW soon and I wanted to know if it would still be up. Jack Skellington is my fave!!!

The HM overlay is only at Disneyland in California. It does not happen at WDW.

Also because the "holiday" thing sucks, big time. For the life of me I will never understand why anyone would want the day glow, cardboard cutout overlay on a classic like Haunted Mansion. I took a once in a lifetime trip to DL a couple of years back and to my massive disappointment there was the overlay. It wasn't cute, it wasn't funny, it wasn't scary, it was nothing but cheap looking to me. I am so glad that they never have done it at WDW and I hope they never do.

I love the HM NBC overlay at DL. Unlike the original poster, I go to DL each year when the overlay is not up and I wish it were! I have to make a special trip just to see the overlay (and I don't live near CA so it is a big deal). I'm hoping to see it again in 2009!

I'm going to DL for my first time this Nov. and I'm excited to see the NBC overlay. I'm not a huge fan of the movie, I recall liking it alright when it first came out, but I think as much as I love the Haunted Mansion it will be a fun change to see the NBC overlay.
