I haven't spent much time on the boards lately because I have no trip planned :( :( :( , but a friend of mine called to make a reservation at POR today and she was charged an extra $15 a night for her 16 & 17 year olds. Didn't it used to be there wasn't an extra charge until the kids were 18 or older?

Also does anybody know if a 17 yr. old can sleep on the trundle at POR?

Thanks!

There is an "extra adult" charge for everyone starting with the 3rd person in the room but I don't know what the resorts consider an "adult." Kids 10 and older must buy adult park tickets but I think in the resorts it's 16 and over, can't be sure about it though.

It'd have to be a short 17 year old to fit on the trundle. In the Port Orleans FAQ tread there is a picture of the trundle. Use the link at the top of the resort threads to find it. These trundles are really best suited for small kids (or really small adults).

was charged an extra $15 a night for her 16 & 17 year olds.

Maybe when she gave their birthdates, the 17 yr old will be 18 by the time of the trip?

Or, if she told them she intends to use the trundle (which is really not meant much more than a 10-12 year old, unless they don't mind hanging over onto the floor..it's just a skinny, short mattress that pulls out from under the bed) there is a $15 charge (although if you have five in a room like we will in September, 3 are adults, they charged for the trundle, and said because they charged for the trundle, there was no extra charge for the adult.

My friend had a Package brochure from a travel agent and the ages were broken out by price. It was cheaper if the children were under a certain age (I think 11 but not sure) and then it had another rate for older children. They weren't charged like adults but it was extra.

I have the brochure at work, I'll check when I get back.

It sounds like a $15 charge for the use of the trundle bed, not because they are over 16. I'm pretty sure that it is still 18 before the adult charge kicks in.

I agree with Debbie that the charge was probably for the trundle bed. If you go to the Walt Disney World site and go the Resort Reservations page, it lists children ages up to 17. This leads me to think that they still don't charge for an "extra" adult until after the age of 17. :)

December 2002 we were only charged for our over 18 year old. I asked the same question about trundle bed and got back it was mostly used for little kids.

We were not charged for our 17 year old last month. Next trip (in 2 or 4 years) we will be since he will be over 18. There is probably an extra charge for the trundle bed.
