DH has fractured his fibula and will unexpectedly be in an electric scooter this week for our trip :headache:

Could you please tell me if we will have any difficulties getting to or into any of these restaurants? We will be using Disney transportation exclusively. It's our 31st wedding anniversary trip and I don't want him to be any more uncomfortable than he already is..... :guilty:

House of Blues, Yak & Yeti, Hollywood Brown Derby, Le Cellier, Citrico's, Coral Reef, Tutta Italia,
Kona Cafe, Tusker House, Les Chefs de France, Nine Dragons and the
Sci Fi Diner (I doubt we can sit in a car, right? :sad2:)

Thanks in advance!

All WDW restaurants are handicapped accessible. Can he transfer to a regular dining room chair? The easiest thing to do is "drive" to the table then have someone in your party move the scooter to stroller parking outside the restaurant. If he is able to walk short distances have him stay seated, you check in at the podium and explain that you need nearby seating with no steps and they will accomodate.

Can he walk at all?

If he needs crutches and you are renting the ECV from offsite you can get it with a crutch holder installed.

I regularly use an ECV in the Parks and I will either park inside the lobby or very close to the podium rather than attempt to maneuver between tables (and I am a very experienced ECV driver). If you are renting inside the Parks don't even think about it as the Disney ECVs are almost impossible to maneuver in tight spaces.

I would suggest going over to the disABILITIES Forum. One of the first threads is the disABILITIES FAQs. On Post #2 we have a lot of information about mobility and stamina, as well as information about ECV and wheelchair rentals. To get directly to the disABILITIES FAQs from here just click on the link in my signature.

Thanks to you both! We are renting an ECV from an offsite vendor and I have asked for a crutch holder. He can walk with his big boot and the crutches as long as it's not too far. Sounds like we'll be okay! :thumbsup2
