Are these RCI points worth using?

Got 160 and need to use them by the end of the year-maybe too late already? Anyone use theirs and have any recommendations/experiences? How much notice do you need to get anything etc? Can they be used at WDW? TIA. I plan to call MS and check it out as well.

Found the "where have you gone" thread. Checking it out.

Options to use up 160 points that will expire near the end of the year would include a DVC stay, CC options or similar or use or deposit with RCI. Specific to your RCI question, you could ask DVC to make a deposit of 160 points and this could give you up to 2 years from the date of the deposit to travel in their system. Just go ahead and plan how to use them, don't wait until the deposit is about to expire then try to find something. Best is to put in a request when you do the deposit. Be realistic but don't settle.

Thanks Dean, I called and found we have until the end of 2011. They also directed us to the website-looks like some great places so we will get planning. :thumbsup2

Are these already deposited with RCI? If so you do really need to get planning and requesting, if they expire in less than 18 months, you really are behind. Once you have a core set of things you know are OK, place your request, you can alter it later. Make sure you investigate the options that look OK, esp if you consider ALL INCLUSIVE. Also make sure you realize that you can only search for places that have a 1 BR options. Unlikely RCI or II directly, you can't search for a 1 BR at a resort that only has 2 BR units.
