Are these places too similar?

We haven't been to Raglan Road the last few trips and are going back this year. I also have Rose and Crown on the list to try, but are these two places too similar to do in one trip? (in your opinion)

What about Kona Cafe and Yak & Yeti?

The menus look similar to me, but the only one I've eaten at is Raglan Road so I figured I get the opinion of others!
Thanks

What we do when we are concerned about something like this is we schedule the restaurant we like the most for our actual meal (maybe RR in your case since you already know you like it), then we stop into the other restaurant during an off time and split something or get an appetizer and a drink to test the place out. We actually do that with Rose and Crown every trip now. We get a scotch egg and drinks (you can get these in the Pub along with a few other popular dishes).

I don't think so. Rose & Crown is much quieter than Raglan Road and if you have an ADR about an hour and half or so before Illuminations and can get a patio seating, it is the best view in the park, IMO. Even if you are seated elsewhere, there is a viewing platform for all dining guests. The menu is more basic than RR but really good.

Yak & Yeti has better food than Kona, IMO. However, I would think both are fine in one trip especially since you are staying at the Poly. I think there is enough difference in the offerings to try both.

IMO Raglan Road's menu is much stronger & food quality much better than Rose & Crown. The entertainment (dancing & bands) is a huge plus.
Both Yak & Yeti & Kona have good food but are very, very different. Edge to Y&Y for interesting decor & vibe & being in park at AK. Kona's strength lies in being a quick monorail ride to/from Magic Kingdom plus a good place to eat after an early evening of cocktails at Trader Sam's.

We did both R&C and RR on our last trip (spread a few days apart) and would do so again. I think the atmosphere and menu varies enough between the two that you're OK doing both. Personally, I would do R&C for more traditional pub food and branch out a little bit more at RR as their menu is, in my opinion, more sophisticated.

We have only done Kona for breakfast so can't comment on the dinner menu, but as far as service, atmosphere and food quality I would hands down give that one to Yak & Yeti.

Thanks for the input! I'm going to keep them on the list, but love the idea of maybe doing apps and drinks in the Rose and Crown pub.

I have Rose & Crown and Raglan Road both planned for our next trip too. I have wanted to try Raglan Rd for years and never have and DH made me promise to schedule Rose & Crown since it has been a few years since we ate there. I'm not too worried about them being too much alike.

I think that they are both different and have visited both in the same trip before.

I have eaten at both Kona and Yak and Yeti in my recent trips and didn't find their dinner menus similar, so if you're looking for variety of experience, I'd say it's safe to include both of these in one trip. I agree with ThreeBoyMama about the service/atmosphere aspects of Yak and Yeti. Definitely way more to look at in this restaurant compared to Kona and we were encouraged to walk about the restaurant to check out artifacts/art not visible from our table.

Are you aware of the fact that there are only 4 tables with chairs at Rose & Crown? There are a few additional high standing tables as well. It certainly is not a traditional bar with lots of tables to sit and have drinks and appetizers at. You will very likely have to stand and wait for a table to become vacant before you can sit and order.
Good Luck

Just to clarify in case someone has never been here. The limited tables and chairs is in the Pub section of Rose&Crown. Not the dining room.

Love Kona but in my opinion there are so many fabulous options at Raglan Road you can easily eat at Rose and Crown without duplicating.

To be honest, I didn't even know there was a pub in addition to the restaurant before this post. Lol. I've only ever done the CS there. Thanks for the heads up about the size of the pub!! I've now decided to go ahead and keep my ADR. This is exactly why I spend so much time on these boards.

Thanks! We're staying at Poly and are doing are doing Kona on arrival night because we have three families coming in from three different parts of the country and figured it was best to have a low key dinner at our resort. I've heard good things about Yak & Yeti on these boards, so I'm excited to finally try it!

I enjoy the atmosphere & food at both. I've done both in the same trip before & didn't find them similar enough to make a difference one way or the other. Enjoy!

I worried about that kind of a thing a LOT when planning my trip and ultimately it did not matter AT ALL. My first 4 meals were Skipper Canteen, Sanaa, Tusker House, Yak n Yeti and I later added a Boma breakfast. I also ended up with 3 character meals in a row... 'Ohana breakfast, H&V dinner and then Garden Grill breakfast. I didn't realize I had done that til I got there but it was fine. Restaurants may be "similar" in that they are exoticish in a certain way but there is enough variety on the menus that you could order something similar to another meal if you feel like it but completely different if you don't. I would go where I enjoy and not worry about having things be too similar.
