Are there two versions of Maleficent/Dragon Diva Pin?

Does anyone know if there are two variations of the Maleficent/Dragon pin that was given out at the Diva Event?

The one I am familiar with (per Tomart guide and PinPics) has gold backing/edging around Maleficent with silver around the Dragon. I have just seen one that is gold around both Maleficent and the Dragon without the silver contrast.

There weren't any published variations. I know that they were handed out in their boxes that were in stacks at the table as we left the park. I have seen a couple of prototypes that some of the Managers got, but never really noticed if the metal was different color. I'll check both of mine when I get home to see if they are different. My guess is that it might be just coloration differences.

Mine are gold metal for the maleficent and silver metal for the dragon.

Thanks for the reply. This one appears identical with regard to detaling, finish, colors, size and weight. It came in a purple velvet boxed marked "Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty" and is marked with the Disney copyright.

Mine is different. It is not marked with the Diva date.

but might it be a counterfeit pin ??
I think with its market value of around 600 USD some people might take the effort to reproduce it , even when it would cost 20 USD to do so .....
your opinions ????

Nice to see you around the boards. We traded a couple of years ago.

I figure it probably is a counterfeit but there are two things that puzzle me. The quality is so close to the original, why not counterfeit the silver backing to make it harder to catch. Secondly, the box it came in is marked "Walt Disneys Sleeping Beauty" and is identical to the box used for the Little Mermaid pin set released in early 2000; right down to the pull tab and diagonal ribbon only this box is purple. If one is going to "create" a box for it, why not duplicate the Diva box? Curious.

Uh, excuse me but why would anyone go to the trouble and expense of counterfeiting something that you CAN'T flood the market with, and, the one or two that you MIGHT be able to sell would only gross you a few hundred bucks? I mean, it's not likely you'll see dozens and dozens of this particular pin suddenly appear on Ebay or selling off a lanyard on Main Street, is it? Might tend to make people a bit suspicious, even the most gullible among us. No, most likely you have an early prototype or a so called 'manager's special' that, incredible as it may seem, we 'experts' haven't heard of. Have you given any thought to emailing Disneyland and asking a few questions?
