We are renting a car for the first time and driving from Port Canaveral to Universal's Cabana Bay Resort. Are there any tolls we should be aware of?

total shown is if you pay with SUNPASS and get the discount

cash total is $4.25

between port and airport are two tolls of $1

just b4 I-4 one more of $2.25

all take cash BUT watch the signs ... cash lanes look like an exit to some people and they miss the cash lanes ....

cash area has both attended lanes (change and bills accepted), and exact change lanes. If there is a backup it will be on the attended lane. A roll of quarters can save you some time ...

your rental will have an option to enable 'SUNPASS like' electronic payment but the cost of this varies by rental company. See https://www.sunpass.com/rentalcar

We had three when we drove from Universal to Cocoa Beach last year. Two were manned by people, and one that didn't have anyone and we needed exact change.

What route did you take for that drive?

that said, there were two *exits* between MCO and I-4 that took money to exit, but if you weren't exiting those weren't for you. I was very very nervous (it's like each time I go I'm a newbie) but once I finally got to the actual toll plaza it was OBVIOUS that it was a toll plaza, and that I was to go to the right and pay then get back to the road. But those two actual exits were nervous-making when I was going by them. :)

Can't remember what's between the port and MCO, though!

OP for 417 and 528 I make sure I have several ones and a roll of quarters, and I'm good. :) Having messed up on one cruise, be SURE you KEEP that money through the cruise! Don't give out the ones in tips or anything like that! Keep the toll money safe.

you were lost .... very lost

One year ago if you drove from the port, all the way to I-4 on 528 (or the reverse) you would have encountered 4 toll plazas. In March of 16 the plaza just west of the airport was removed and the toll at the western most plaza was increased.

If a year ago one drove from Universal to PC and encountered only 3 plazas they did not run the full length of 528 and probably got on between the two (old) plazas between I-4 and the airport. Not all of those had a toll, and some with tolls of those were unattended ... now they are ALL tolled & unattended (the exits between airport and the remaining I-4 plaza)

I'm not sure what route i took, but it was by my gps (garmin). I know we were on 528, but couldnt tell you where we got on. We had three there and three on the way back. This would have been in Oct of last year. I remember atleast one was only .75 cents.
