Are there really people being told they cannot go on the Wish Cruise because they don’t have qualified points?

This was mentioned on the cruise forum. It is hard to believe this wasn’t checked yesterday. It’s hard to believe the CM’s didn’t know the difference,

Has that happened??

Yesterday we were not booking and paying, we were holding a place, apparently.

I know Qualified points are needed to exchange into the Disney collection but it's a little shocking that CM's weren't checking for that.

I wouldn’t be surprised if some got a “booking” but are getting told they don’t qualify when it comes time to pay since reservations were made at a fast and furious pace yesterday.

I suspect the booking phone lines were being staffed by outsource reps.

My friend bought DVC direct and she was able to book a stateroom yesterday. However, she tried to book another stateroom for another friend who is also a DVC member but purchased her membership via resale. The CM told my friend no, they could not do that. So it looks like that CM knew what she was doing. When I talked to the CM as it was selling out, I was going to book it using points for my 8 year old son, then paying cash for me and my husband. I didn’t realize my son would require a lower amount of points and that was my preference since I wouldn’t have to use as many points.

I have no reason to doubt those people who have posted in a FB Group that they were told they could not sail when it came time for payment due to not having points that would work.

Well, we have finally been able to pay. It had taken three calls to try to pay, each with over an hour wait time to get our booking paid for, cash and points.

I don’t often go on FB, so if that’s where the talk is, I don’t know about it. It is a shame they were allowed to reserve. I am sorry for those members.

Since points have to be used for at least one person and this is a cruise, I would expect resale members wouldn't qualify.

True. It's just a slip up by DVC if they allowed members to book who didn't qualify. Should the members have known? Yes but still it's a slip up on DVC's part.

Honesty, as a resale only owner, the option is ALWAYS there to pretend you're a blue card holder. DVC only room discounts, online AP DVC gold passes, member only events, Ive poked around all of these and the option was always there to finalize the transaction. I never tried as I assume somewhere they will ask for your blue card, and I lean toward the honest side(most of the time). But my point is Disney's IT systems are not robust enough to distinguish between the two.

Here you need to use some points. I can’t imagine the points would work. However, I don’t know that.

I agree Bobbi.

Qualified points are required not a qualified membership. The Blue card is different than the qualified point part and point qualification although both are tracked and viewable by MS. Point of sales don't see that for discount purposes and that relies upon CM training or if Disney really even cares what DVC wants. lol
