Are there really "no stupid questions".

Not really a "vent", just something that cracks me up a little:

I love reading the trip planning boards for a disney fix in the morning and I think it's great when people are planning their first WDW trip, so maybe I'm just being mean. I want to say, "There are no stupid questions", but I think there are some pretty odd ones, anyway.

I mean, do you really need to ask what it's going to be like there if you are pregnant or with a toddler (it's not a third world country, I think you can imagine what it will be like. What do they expect to be told?)

How do I know what the weather will be like in December? How do I know if your husband is going to like the Contemporary? How do I know if your Uncle Larry is going to find something he likes on the menu at Sci-Fi Dine In? How do I know if you'll be able to get a reservation for the California Grill during the fireworks? Call and ask!

Maybe people aren't looking for answers so much as the chance to gab a little about their vacation? OK, I can see that.... :)

I agree some questions are really off the wall. I wonder though if it is bordom after the trip planning is done, that all of the minor little details come to surface.
When I plan a trip I have never been, I plan it then over think it, but I usually keep the "silly" questions to myself. lol.

"What time is the 3:00 parade?" is a dumb question. ;)

Well, I don't think asking about the weather at a certain time of year is a stupid question at all. DH and I have cruised only in January, and when people ask what the January weather is like on a cruise I feel I have some knowledge about it so I can answer. Of course I don't know what the weather will be like when they go, I can only tell them what it was like when we went. But other people will answer too, and the one asking the question can get a "good feel" of what the weather will be like when they go.

DH and I are thinking about renting a log cabin for a week in the Pigeon Forge area of Tenneseee at the end of March. I would like to know what kind of weather we can expect. Do they get much snow at that time of the year, or is it more spring-like with flowers blooming, etc. Sorry you think that's a "stupid question." :confused3

I didn't mean to ask an offensive question. Maybe people really don't know that it's really hot in Florida in the summer and they may or may not be able to swim in January, depending on what the weather decides to do any particular January.

And I'm really not accusing people of being stupid - just asking questions they already know the answer to, or questions that we wouldn't possibly know the answer to.

Like, availability questions. Why ask here? Why not just call?

Maybe people just want to make WDW friends so that ask a question, any question,

Chatty, it is rarely snowing in East TN at the end of March...but it has before! That is an iffy time of year here. Sometimes it is so nice that you can be wearing short sleeves in the daytime and need a lightweight jacket at night. But there are times when you could need longsleeves and a lighter weight winter coat!
My advice is to either check internet weather as your trip draws closer or PM me and I'll tell you what the weather is.
Either way, I think your goona have a wonderful time in East TN! :sunny:

And about the OP's question. I suppose there are stupid questions, like someone said about the 3:00 parade but I think when it comes to planning for WDW, we just get anxious and start thinking about every detail and second guessing choices etc. I always ask a zillion questions when planning a trip. And around here, someone ALWAYS knows the answer!!!

Of course there are stupid questions.. I have some errands to do.. so I will get back to you on this one.. =)

My favorite stupid question is "Will we like?" How the heck would we know what you will like or not like?

I think that there are some real dumb questions. I think there are other questions that people get tired of answering, in which case they should let others answer it or posters should try search for their answer (which of course doesn't always work, depending on the question and the search engine).

As far as a weather question, just knowing the temperatures isn't always enough. I've been in winter before, and can give some winter hints. IE, you might not think it's very cold, but it's different having that temp at home when you're not spending much time outside and at Epcot where it might be windy and you're spending hours outside walking around the countries, sitting outside, and staying until after dark.

People learn by reading and asking questions. I think what gets frustrating is when someone doesn't want to do any research reading threads, etc, but wants to have others tell them everything to see and do, like their time is more valuable. So they ask the really basic questions that are discussed all the time. I just pass over those questions if I don't want to answer.

The questions don't bother me. Newbies or even not so newbies are spending mega bucks for a vacation.
I'm going in November and I've been 16 times but never at Thanksgiving,so I wondered what to expect from the weather. It's a general question. Other posters were generous enought to share that I should bring a light jacket as it could get nippy. I'm not familiar with the weather in central Florida and a websearch didn't answer my question.
If someone has a question and I can help answer it, then I'm glad to help as I thought that this was one of the main reasons for the DIS-a community helping each other to enjoy their Disney trip.

I once got a question from my contact at the home office, when I'd ordered a particular part in "white"...

"The shop says this part comes in white or beige. What colour do you want?"

Uh...how about chartreuse? :confused3 :sad2:

I dont see why those are stupid questions. People (veterans) on the Dis make so much ado about some of those questions people start to worry over something they normaly wouldn't even think about. What are those boards for if not to ask questions......
