Where to use siggies/urls ????


Besides these boards, are there any other places (like email) in which url codes can be used? Obviously I am technologically challenged or I wouldn't have to ask. But I am trying to learn and I see so many of my fellow posters who seem to have mastered this art.

If anyone out there can share their brilliant insight, I would really appreciate this. My DS would love to use smilies in his e-mail and my DH would love to be able to have a countdown where he can keep track of it. PLEASE HELP if there is some way to use these in the outside world (not that I actually live there).

I have no clue if a url can be cut/pasted or if html format shows up in an e-mail. Is there anyone who is tech savy who wouldn't mind sharing a few pointers to this tech layman?

Dan, your pictures are awesome. I really enjoyed your sharing them.

My problem is that I really want to be able to use smilies, blinkies, glitter names, eggs, etc. that I can't use in the signature on my posts (because they will be removed for having too many). I want to stick to the rules as much as possible, but I would love to use these adorable things in e-mails or everyday stuff if there is a way.

Does that sound crazy? Maybe a little. But I think these are neat and would love to play with them outside of these posts too.

Is there a way to add smilies to an email you're sending ~ say in MS Outlook or some other program? Are the smilies & timers compatible....is there a website you can go to for them?

Hi Dwarfmaster. Yes that's what I'm (or we're) asking. I am so tech unsavy but I want to learn. I don't know if e-mails can be "understood" if a url or html is present. Do you get a picture or jibberish? I would love to know

I do think there are some sites out there (do a Google search) that will give you things to put in emails. I understand most of them do contain spyware, so that would make me hesitant about using them. Remember, there is no free lunch.
