Are there issues with Portofino Garden Rooms

We are going on a long weekend trip in October and planned to stay one night. I have a garden room booked. I was looking at some googled reviews and have read a lot of comments from August regarding bad room location, wear and tear on rooms, distance to parks and service so now I'm worried.

We've stayed at HRH and had an enjoyable time. I liked the theme of the Portofino so I wanted to try it for one night to see whether we'd like to book a longer stay there next year. It's just DD and myself initially before DH joins us later.

I just returned from the Portofino last week.. and I have to say that of the 3 hotels, I liked this one the best! It was amazing! The beds were so comfy.. the pools not nearly as mobbed as the HRH... The boat service was great.. I never waited for a boat more than 5 minutes.. if even that long... I opted to take the boat service and not walk the entire weekend. When I stayed at the HRH I always walked.. and the Portofino was just a little further along the path... so, the walk would not have been that horrible.. It was just way too hot.. and the boat was always there.. so, why walk!! LOL!! I can't wait to return there.. the whole place was just so wonderful...Make sure you check out the Villa pool area as well as the beach pool.. it is just sooooo beautiful! have fun and don't believe all the bad reviews.. I found NOTHING about the Portofino to complain about!

There are plenty of halls/elevators in all the areas for shortcuts to pools/parks etc. We have stayed at Portofino numerous times and we love it.

Request a room in the west wing. These garden view rooms actually overlook the beach pool and not the gardens. The west wing is also the most convenient to the boat dock.

I would say there are issues at times with availibility. I called for next summer with a free suite upgrade and the rooms are already booked for some of the days we wanted to stay. I couldn't believe it. I thought I was the only long distance overplanner.

we just returned 2 days ago and had a GV at PBH. We received room 3358 in the west wing. The room was showing some wear & tear but nothing we couldn't deal with. We were centered over the beach pool with a balcony.

All the rooms at the PBH are undergoing renovation from now until the end of November so there's a good chance you'll get a renovated room. See Loews PBH website under general information for the details.
