Are there doctors on site????

Well I am doing the happy dance with just 2 days left until we leave. But.........DD (2.5) and I both woke up with stuffed up noses and my head is full of pressure. I tried so hard to keep us healthy.

Somebody told me there are doctors on site!! Is that so? How do I find out? Are they general practitioners or will I actually find a pediatrician, ob, etc. If I could find an OB to give me a spinal adjustment after all that walking, it would be great!

Any info will help!

Holy Cow, I could have written this post! Except we leave in one day.

I'm curios to see what the answer is.

BTW, I am taking DD to Dr this afternoon to rule out an ear infection since she had a fever in the night..... That could mean a quiet, peaceful drive as she gets needed rest in her carseat, or a screaming, sick baby.

There are a few clinics near WDW and the hospital in Celebration, but WDW doesn't have doctors onsite -just nurses in the first aid stations, I believe. And EMTs at the fire station...

The desk at your resort will call a doctor if the need araises -if someone is running a fever, and can't be moved, etc. But I'm sure they charge you big $$$ for a 'house' call!

Just outside the Downtown Disney resort area (or whatever it's called) is a walk-in place called Centracare. We had to go there on my last trip. The whole process took a couple of hours, though.

The only drs on site are those on vacation. There is a list of hospitals and care centers near WDW at the desk of the hotel. IF I were you and you are thinking sinus infection...I would call and see if you could e seen before your trip and take the meds with you. Don't let it get too bad or you could be miserable for the whole trip. Have a magical trip!!

My sister had a doctor come to our DVC villa when my neice was sick--with a strep test and prescription it was about $250. Her insurance reimbursed a good chunk of it, but she had to pay OOP and wait for the reimbursement. The doctor took credit cards, pretty sure my sis put it on her AMEX.

good to know that. I thought I read there was an Orlando dr that did this. My midwife gave me a prescription in case mine turns into sinus infection or something. But I highly doubt DD's pediatrician will do the same. I'll call and find out.

We had to make a stop there on our last trip as well. This location is VERY crowded since it takes all of the WDW Cast Members with non-serious injuries. The waiting room wasnt crowded at all but it still took over 3 hours from check-in to leaving.

Go to your family doctor before you leave town and avoid the wait!

I just called her pediatrician to see if they'll just call something in for me. I really doubt it. I can take her but right now it's just a stuffy nose so I'm not sure they do it then either. We'll see what they say.

Hopefully your ped's office will come through in light of the situation and give you a script just in case it worsens. Our ped's office is really good about giving out samples and our nurse loaded me up with Cefzil when it was prescribed for a double ear infection several months before our trip. I had some extra that wasn't mixed up yet, so I took it with us to DW JUST IN CASE anything happened. Of course DH laughed and said I was overpacking again Two days into the trip, sure enough, DD developed a high fever and sore throat. We called our pediatrician back home and they said to go ahead and put her on the Cefzil. A few days later, she was back to normal. I feel for ya and hope everything turns out okay. I know it's frustrating to have little ones sick on the mother of all family vacations. Sending pixie dust your way

In many states midwives and physicians assistants can write scripts for a limited number of non-controlled substances such as prenatal vitamins, antibiotics, asthma inhalers and meds, birth control pills, etc.

LOL! That's what I was going to say! There are always tons of drs. around WDW, but they don't advertise it. We were at WDW 2 weeks ago for a big med. convention at the Orange Co. Convention Center. There always seems to be some sort of medical meeting going on in Orlando.

I'd guess that at any given moment, several thousand of my DH's group were at WDW. If a dire emergency cropped up, you'd likely see some of them pop out of the woodwork.

DS's doctor always told us to call her first if DS got sick while on vacation. She could callhim something in or direct us to the best place to take him.

And now back to the OP question. . .

At the Crossroads (Hotel Plaza Blvd and Hwy 535) there is a walk-in clinic, possibly named CentraCare as adrien32 mentioned. We had had to use it in the past and were very pleased.

The location is right behind the (I think it's called) the DoubleTree Hotel.

Hope you don't need to use it.
