I could use one for a high school student trying to do her best in school and one for someone trying to diet!

Thanks

Hi! I don't know how appropriate these are, but here are my two (the second one I just heard on Law & Order, and I liked it):
- If you do one thing, you've done something.
- All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men & women to do nothing.

Cheers!

I have a quote book...

Here is one from the Never give up section

A bend in the road is not the end of the road...unless you fail to make the turn.

Or

Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time we fall. Confucius

Never confuse a single defeat with a final defeat-F.Scott Fitzgerald

It's never too late, in fiction or in life, to revise.--Nancy Thayer

Hope these help.

Have a lot more in this book, let me know if you would like more.

Two that I live by are in my signature. One doesn't really fit, but the first is more or less saying "Don't sweat the small stuff... remember what is important in life"

Here a re a few of my favourites:

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Go the distance. When you accept a task, finish it.

Evaluate yourself by your own standards, not someone else's.

One by Harry Chapin -

It's got to be the going not the getting there that's good.

Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things!

As plain as it may sound the quoteI live by is very simple but true. Both your friends can use it because it DOES work.....

WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE :D

Believe that and the one who is dieting will reach his or her goal and the other in high school WILL be the best of the best. :teeth:

You only live once, but if you live life right the first time once is enough! That's my personal motto but I collect quotes so here's a couple that might fit.

"Don't let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish
something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will
pass anyway; we might just as well put that passing time
to the best possible use."

- Earl Nightingale, Author and Businessperson

"Instead of seeing the rug being pulled from under us,
we can learn to dance on a shifting carpet."

- Thomas Crum, Author and Speaker

"A happy person is not a person in a certain set of
circumstances, but rather a person with a certain set of
attitudes."

- Hugh Downs, Television Newscaster

"A man can fail many times, but he isn't a failure
until he begins to blame somebody else."

- John Burroughs, Naturalist

"Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the
seeds you plant."

- Robert Louis Stevenson, Author

"When you have a great and difficult task, something perhaps
almost impossible, if you only work a little at a time, every day
a little, suddenly the work will finish itself."

- Isak Dinesen (pseudonym for Karen Blixen), Danish Writer

Well I used to tell my DS a few things about school and his goals:

You can't get from A to Z without the rest of the alphabet. Shortcuts will always leave you short.

Settle for nothing less than your best.

You can't reach the stars by sitting on your butt.

For the dieter

One day at a time.

The quote I live by is:

What goes around comes around.

One I learned in High School. Marching band to be exact:

To be on time is to be late.

One that fits almost everything --

ONE DAY AT A TIME!!!:D

It is better to light a single candle than to sit alone and curse the darkness.
